So why exactly is this only a german thing? Is it a third party filter not endorsed/supported by epson?

well that's even worse, I could understand if it was a third party filter and the manufacturer was german but not if epson is the one providing these filters.

Where in Germany can someone order this from? I have a friend in Germany so I can get it from him.

I'd love to read any reports from owners of the filter. Thanks!

It looks like I will be able to provide some feedback here in a few weeks. I just purchased the filter that was put up on german ebay (and shipped to my wife who is in germany). Unfortunately we had no luck trying to locate a source of these filters in Germany other than the occasional filter that pops up on ebay.

We contacted epson of germany, as well as the maker of the filters, and both basically told us they are only available on new projectors.

I will be out of the country visiting my wife for the next month or so, but when I return I will calibrate the 5010 and post my results.

Any word on the availability of this from somewhere? It is not available in ebay.de unfortunately anymore.. Would be ordering to Finland so I guess Germany is ok.
