2 simple questions about Energy's S10.3 Subwoofer!!!

Hi guys. I have a friend who works at an AV store near my apartment and he told me they are going out of business and are clearing everything. He knows I was looking for a second sub and told me they still had one Energy S10.3 sub for $50. He is buying it for me and bringing it to my job later today. I have read many good reviews about this sub but have some questions. The crossover controls say 50Hz - 110Hz. But on some sites it is stated to be from 21Hz - 120Hz and I've seen many people saying it really goes down to 21Hz.

I suppose that's because it gives you the option to by-pass the internal crossover. Am I right?

Also, the specs say it has a variable low pass filter of 50Hz - 110Hz.
What is the difference between variable low pass filter and the frequency response?

That sub is not the best one out there, but for $50, I think it is or at least the best bargain in the world!!! I'm a really happy guy!!!!

So, I was right on that one. That is great!. I just bought a Denon 2312ci which still in the box waiting to be installed. I didn't want to until I get everyting else. And for $50, what else could I ask for???

I have no idea. My friend told me he used it for a hole day playing the Avengers at the store and it was working great. I'll try it maybe next week. I'm kind of busy this week and can't play with it.

Sorry to take so long to reply, but I wanted to make sure before posting any impressions. I have been using the Energy sub since that day playing different types of movies and music in order to really test its capabilities under a wide variety of material. After doing so, I can say that I'm really impresed with its performance. It really goes with an impresive power for a 10" sub. Maybe the room gain has something to do with it, because I haven't even been able to push it to 50% of the gain. Of course, my room is not that big either. All I can say, is that those $53.50 are the best spent of my AV life!!!
