WinDVD, PowerDVD and TMT have such amazing programmers that such a feat could clearly never be attempted by the open source community

I think one option is missing:smile.gif

- Because Renethx has provided some excellent instructions which enthusiasts can easily follow: http://www.avsforum.com/t/940972/guide-to-building-a-htpc-workstation-and-server/17640#post_20890440

[X] Because WMC is considered dead and no one develops anything for it any longer.

To quote my friend, a VP at Comcast: "Oh, you're that one guy with the CableCard."

What's to speculate? It's simply because no F/OSS developer has any/sufficient interest in coding it. This is the nature of F/OSS software. It only gets coded if someone has the time and interest to do it. Microsoft certainly isn't going to code the plugin either.

Bit of an odd poll. MPC-HC works fine when launched from native MC apps (e.g. Media Browser). I use it this way, and have no problems at all with it. MPC-HC is a self-contained system, with it's own codecs etc. No reason why it should become a plugin I can think of, unless someone want's to do it just for the sake of it.

What a coincidence. I've always wanted such a Plug-in too so I could watch Blu-rays with proper renderer + codecs (madVR/LAVFilters). Couple of weeks ago I got some time and started writing it. I just uploaded first build today at TGB. It's written in C#, Visual Studio 2012. Plug-in is for 7MC/8MC, it allows you to use MPC-HC or MPC-BE as external Blu-ray player from native Media Center movie library. Here's a short video:

Does it support menu's or main title only?
No, MPC-HC/BE doesn't yet support BD menu's, so playback starts from the main movie.

Why would one need this option?

One less button push? WMC remotes have a 'my movies' button.

To get rid of bloated Cyberlink, TMT and My Movies. You can start BD playback directly from native Media Center Movie Library (BD optical Drive, Virtual Drive and ripped BD folders on HDD).

Rip to server and be done with it. External players or discs kind of make a htpc worthless.

Ok, probably a very stupid question, but what's the difference between MPC-HC and BE?

I guess I'm surprised people even use Media Center at all to play movies from a physical disk. Setup autoplay. Insert disk -> movie plays automatically. No remote interaction is required. I guess if one left a disk in the machine and wanted the ability to later play it maybe but even then, I'd configure a "Play Disk" button on my remote (with the help of Eventghost is needed).

edit: I assumed the OP was talking about playing a physical disk. If he's not, then my answer is Media Browser.

Trying this out (1.0.2.1), hit a roadblock: when trying to open a movie, the plugin is looking for /users/*/appdata/roaming/ehdlr/ehdlr.htm file that is was installed into the admin account. Since I run wmc from a different, user account, it spits out the error message.

It works in the admin account, though.

Thanks, i'll fix that tomorrow.

Got it installed and running, but can't get mpc to release full screen with either 'exit' or 'browser back' remote keys.

Why have an x64 version? I thought madvr only worked with 32 bit.
