Klipsch RW-12d on sale for $299 at Newegg.com again today!

You guys who are ordering this sub are making it really hard as I save my coin for another sub. It's like guys hitting the local hamburger joint and bragging on the burger they ate while another is saving for a onetime, 2" thick, Prime, Rib Eye steak purchase. Guaranteed, both taste great.

Sure makes me wonder......if they can sell it delivered to you for $299 and make money.....they must be making a killing at $499
And its MSRP is like $999.

Maybe its just the illusion of a "big sale"? People fall for that every minute. Americans just love a sale, and spending money.

In my opinion, it don't matter how they (Klipsch/Newegg) get it to one's front door For it's price, no illusion, it's an amazing deal and if I had more money, I'd have no trouble spending this bounty as spending money is very entertaining. Let's see, what new toy am I gonna buy today?

Just curious, does the RW-12d have an "always on" mode or are you forced to use an auto on/off standby mode feature? Didn't see a switch on photos of the unit's rear. Is the control on that front top digital control panel?

Yes, it has always on and auto on controlled by the digital display.

but look at the FR curve for both. There is no comparison. You always get what you paid for.

Within sage adage is the unspoken, which in this case is, you're stuck with what you can afford.

Finances are a terrible thing to waste. Wasted on what you don't need and wasted on that which doesn't perform to your needs. Best use of one's money is getting the best they can afford. Never cheapen a deal over two hundred dollars, unless, of course, you don't have the two hundred dollars to cheap out on. Nobody ever says how they could have saved two hundred bucks buying less then what I wanted.

Just doesn't have that ring to it. But, in this case, the RW-12d has the stronger amplifier; RW-12d 350W RMS)

A suggestion, what's the individual's hearing capable of? IIRC, the RW-12d is tuned to 25Hz and then rolls off but extends it's energy into the full 25Hz before rolling off. Add in the room boost and you have THX reference frequency range; LFE channel being tuned to 20-120Hz. In the end, it's all about the "Benjamins".

I am not going to waste anymore time debating Klipsch vs SVS subs. The brand names speak for themselves!

FYI, this is a Klipsch, RW12-d thread about a $299.99 deal at Newegg. People look to the Newegg deal because it's a delivered price of $299.99 and because at this price point, unequivocally, the RW-12d is the class of the field. At this price point, they're not into this thread because the RW12-d is in competition with more expensive, $500.00 subs.

Now, if you can get SVS to sell their subs at a delivered price of $299.00, you might have something.

If you can swing the difference, get the PB-1000. If you can't, go with the RW-12d.

While it is a fantastic sub, I do beg to differ on this BeeMan. The BIC pl-200, in my opinion, is THE best sub around $300.

I would take the Klipsch or save up and buy something like the PA-150 for about $350.

And you base your opinion on what information?

BIC is tuned at 30Hz.

The Klipsch is tuned at 25Hz.

The BIC has a 250w RMS amplifier.

The Klipsch has a 350w RMS amplifier.

If you root around online (data-bass), you'll see the BIC, PL-200 sub has a terrible graph.

I'm not knocking BIC but my understanding is, BIC is low end while Klipsch goes up to reference high end and commercial, THX theater applications; experience.

The above is what I'm basing my opinion on. If I've missed something, please let me know.

We just received ours from Newegg, they did a pretty good job on delivery; no crushed edges or anything.

This is the first subwoofer I've gotten for my home theatre system, and I did have a quick question about hookup.

We have a Pioneer VSX-1021, and it only appears to have a Subwoofer pre-out (view of the back of the receiver http://www.productwiki.com/upload/images/pioneer_vsx_1021_k_1.jpg); but the back of the RW-12d has left and right inputs.

I just want to make sure I order the right type of cable, which I assume is some sort of Y cable. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Edit: actually looked at the figures in the manual and figured it out! Will report back on how it sounds with the Pioneer and our Jamo set.

All you should need is a male RCA to a male RCA cable to plug your sub in. Plug an RCA in to the sub, plug in the other end to the AVR and you should be getting sound out of sub. Now all you have to do is dial the sub in and adjust the different settings so you can blend the sub into your room's acoustics.

You sure one isn't an LFE input? Usually one would use the LFE input for the preout from your avr and let the AVR manage the crossover, etc as a result. Do you have a manual?

Got the RW-12D in and replaced my KLH S120ETH. I plugged the RCA into the left input because that's what the guide says is the LFE input. Tried out all the EQ settings and left it at flat. Re-ran Audessy which put all my speakers at -9 or so but it placed my woofer at 29 feet (!). Manually adjusted it and watched wotw. Probably not the best break-in movie for right out of the box but it certainly hit harder than the KLH ever could. Now to save up for a second.

The manual says you can hook to right and/or left. Neither one is specifically labled lfe.

It's back to $299.......Now should I buy one or wait...that's the question.....
