Ill make it easy. If you have a big room get a 2nd RW. Small room get a higher end sub. imo

I have a Harmony 650 that I got at Christmas for $50 that controls the RW12. I hardly ever use it for that though and the RW was the lowest priority reason that I bought it.

NOooo. What teenage boy that likes rap and dubstep wouldn't love to have a sub in his bedroom? Not to mention, the 10" version of this Klipsch sub smile.gif

That was just a perk that the ex gets to enjoy it, too :evil laugh:

It took them an hour and fifty-seven minutes to get one to me. Now I'm sad. tongue.gif

And I won't be able to track it's shipping progress until 8:00 o'clock tonight.

My father says that about the "Golden Years," you need a mountain of gold to enjoy them.

Funny story (as long as I brought it up): I live in NJ but work in Philly, so I had my sub delivered to my office. Needless to say, the shipping box wouldn't fit in my Corolla, so there I am, in the parking lot, unpacking a 50 pound box so I could then cram the SMALLER box in my car. Quite a workout at the end of the day.

What kind of SVS? They make several.

I'd like to thank you price stalkers for notifying me about today's deal. Just pulled the trigger =)

Congrats on the killer deal you got today. This is the best delivered price I've seen and considering the cost of flying someone from the East Coast to the West Coast, shipping included makes this a killer deal.

I just became a sub snob a week ago with my purchase of the Klipsch RW12-d. cool.gif

Mine was $289 and I felt special because I got $10 off with the special code. And I am special. But now you guys are getting them for $279? Not fair. mad.gif
+++

In any case, mine had the grill mounts snapped off. No, not from shipping, I would be 99% sure those cheap things snapped off from inserting them at the factory in China. Honestly, a 3rd grade Art class could have made a better mount from toothpicks. The plastic is probably 1/16 of an inch where it snapped off. I know they have to save money by cutting costs, but honest to goodness, would it really kill the profit margin by making these things even an eighth of an inch thick? The actual grill is fine, it's just those crappy insert/mounts. I will keep the grill, I just need to figure out how to mount it. Maybe double-sided velcro strips?

Feet. My sub feet were just fine.

Auto on. Mine works, after 20 minutes it goes into STANDBY mode . Yes, I have checked it and that's what it says, and I believe it. At least for the 1st week, it works perfectly, as advertised.

LCD. Works fine. LCD is very hard to see, because it take almost zero power. When the sub turns on, or if you hit a button, the blue back-lighting makes it easy to see. It is supposed to go black, to LCD mode only after a few seconds when the manual control buttons are not touched.

Port: Mine doesn't rumble or rattle, and it isn't broken off, slipped out, etc.

Sound quality. I used one of those Youtube bass tests, and mine worked down to about 10 hz, at 5 it is silent. I couldn't hear it, but I could put my hand on the speaker rubber and I could feel it vibrating. I could hear sound at about 15 hz. This was when the sub was a foot away from me, and it had a usable area of about 6 feet in my man cove where I was testing, where the wife won't go. I am hoping to move up to man cave some day, but for now the man cove is all I got.

The actual playing sound when this this was working was by far the best part of the Klipsch sub experience. It is cheap around the edges, but the actual sub works really well. How well? When I played a Youtube bass test, even at moderate volume (I have not cranked it up yet) the sound was too loud for me and thumped my chest. In really low frequencies, it pushed air like it was a fan, from 15 feet away. It was very impressive to say the least.

wvu80: did you call Klipsch to see if they will send you a new grill?

No, I haven't. Good suggestion.

In your honor I just got out the warranty info and saw there is a website klipsch.com/experience where the brochure says they want to hear from ME! smile.gif

I'll go register, tell them my problem, and I'll get back to you on this thread to tell you how they respond.

Edit: Done on-line

The info they asked for is not listed on the sub box. For instance the web site wanted a "series." On the box they clearly list a "Part" and a "serial number" but no series. FYI the "Product" is the RW12d. It was very confusing because of the nomenclature. We are not off to a good start.

What was the deal with that last one? You had a pretty strange case it seems like.

This happened to one of the 3 I purchased and I emailed Klipsch. They sent me a new grill within a few business days.

Nothing about it worked last time right out of the box. The LCD screen did not power on, and the Sub would make some noise for a few seconds before shutting off.
So newegg gave me a refund, and paid for return shipping on that one (after a two week wait to see whether UPS would pay)... it was about a month ago.
With the $280 price point, I couldn't resist giving it another try.

Partly because I couldn't figure out how to tell my wife that I spent $1300 on a Rythmic. Also I live in the middle of the city, so I don't want to piss off the neighbors too much.

If you live in the city, it's already too late. tongue.gif

I'll turn the volume down on it most of the time.

The "Night" setting may be helpful for that.

I'm almost in the same boat as you as I live in Philly and work in Mt. Laurel. Good thing about ordering the RW from Newegg is that it came from the warehouse in NJ. Delivery was basically next day for me but the UPS driver seemed like he wanted to keep my sub because UPS said it was delivered & it wasn't. Turns out a call to UPS rectified the problem & it was sub sequentially delivered.

To tell you guys how much a noob I am at home audio I was setting up my sub and I put it on my couch because I didn't want to scratch it on the hardwood.
As I was running my signal cale from my AVR to the spot where I would put my sub the sub fell off the couch and hit the floor. My panic was soothed when I found out I only broke 2 of the mounting pieces (easy fix) on the grill, everything else was undamaged.

.....eek.gif

And that folks is why people have heart attacks.

.....tongue.gif

I'm surprised that SPC (subwoofer protective custody) didn't come and take your sub away.

.....tongue.gif

We're way out West, near the west coast so ours is coming all the way from NJ to California and then up into the northern California mountains where the trees are tall and the Canada Goose flies high overhead at night. biggrin.gif

Huh... mine is coming from Memphis. No complaints as it looks like it'll be here by Friday at the latest according to the UPS shipping times chart.

on sale W@ newegg again 349.99 and 70.00 off with promo code

Klipsch Reference RW-12d 12" Powered Subwoofer Each w/ New box

EXTRA $70 OFF with promo code EMCXSXV78 (expires 04/08/2013)

Have had mine a month and quite pleased not as tight and nuanced as my M&K behemoth was (needs repair not sure if is a driver or electronics issue makes some ugly noises at certain frequencies) but my go to music bass test Tull's Journeyman off the Heavy Horses album still sounds pretty darn good. All in all a good buy imho

Well, I was going to order a 2nd RW-12D, but then I'm going to try and sell my current RW-12D. If I can sell it, I will get a better sub, if I can't sell it I might get a second RW-12D. I was actually going to order a 2nd one today, but I remember that we need a new BBQ grill, and it is getting really nice and sunny in CA. So, tomorrow I will be buying a new BBQ Grill.
I decided to upgrade to this sub today due to the promo.

I will be upgrading to it from a 100W Yamaha YST-sw105. I hope the RW-12D will be a noticeable upgrade for me.

As a side note. It doesn't look like this RW-12D will fit on my Sub Dude HD.....

What is everyone using for the RW-12d? The Auralex Gramma? The Gramma measures 23 x 15 which is close to the RW-12d 21x14.75. Seems like a good fit. Anyone have this combo? (RW-12d + Gramma)

If so, can it be ordered in black like the Sub Dude HD? I only see it in charcoal grey.

One last question. Is this the type of sub that you have to worry about getting hearing damage from? Do you need to be a safe distance from it? I really am concerned this might be too much sub for me as the sub would be only about 6 feet from my ears. Room dimensions are 12 x 15 with an open area on one side of the room that goes out into the kitchen which really makes the room 25x15 in a sense, however, the viewing area is limited to the 12x15 foot corner area.
