I just sent them an email, and though they said that they usually don't match the price fluctuations on their own site, since mine was still in transit they would credit me back $50. I am a satisfied customer.

About the RW-12Ds that seem to be arriving damaged must have gone through some pretty rough shock to get damaged like that. Mine came not only in the strong foam inserts in the original Klipsch packaging, but a 2nd layer of 2-inch foam all around and a second box that Newegg packs it in. Mine showed up with no issues whatsoever.

Have you ever seem those Dateline reports on how Fedex and UPS manhandle packages? If you throw something off the back of a truck onto concrete bad things can happen, good packaging or not. Nothing surprises me anymore...

+1 It is especially bad at Christmas time when they have a bunch of temporary help that don't care.

+100. I haven't used Fedex in awhile, most people only use UPS it seems. Regardless, they chuck their crap around. I honestly think a warehouse run by trained monkeys or gorillas would probably be more gentle with their packages then UPS or Fedex lol.

If I had anything valuable to ship, I'd probably ship USPS. They are cheaper and treat packages better, unfortunately no one really uses them so your stuck with UPS. Definitely pay for insurance if you're shipping something of value by UPS or Fedex.

Word. Be sure to have a "valid" receipt handy and they want valuation proof before paying a claim. Prevents someone from packaging and shipping worthless or used items and then putting a claim in for as new. USPS is the same.

Sorry Newbie question...

All my previous subs have had Inputs and Outputs terminals for speaker wire. Why does this sub only have Inputs and without the outputs what good are the inputs? I know I could run a RCA Sub cable and I will if I have to....but I already have speaker wire run and would like to use that if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Think of a subwoofer as it's own speaker and just like the rest of the speaker system, speakers don't need their own outputs.

For the most part, anything <80Hz is omni-directional or non-locatable; you can't tell where the sound is coming from.

In the simple, all modern subwoofer machinations happen in the AVR and then, because of contemporary bass management, it all happens because the subwoofer is it's own boss as opposed to being it's own adjunct boss. And if your AVR doesn't have current bass management algorithms installed, pretty much, you're boned.

The sub is more intended to use an rca input (line level) than the speaker level (high level) input. Not all subs are setup for daisy chaining, they usually are not. You have had HTIB or computer speakers mostly?

Bond 007 and ack_bk, I do have experience with that. A long time back, around Christmas in fact, had a 65" RPTV that arrived in a wooden crate that was busted. I declined to accept it at the curb and sent it back. I guess I have to thank my lucky stars on the subwoofers I have ordered, this would be the third one, all arrived without damage.

Well, I am in for 2. They will go into the new theater I am getting ready to build. My setup includes:

Infinity
Beta 40 L/R
Beta C360 Center
Beta ES250 surround L/R

I have a set of Beta 20's that would have been for the rear surround, but my design changes added a 3rd row against that wall so now I am looking at some ERV 250 in wall. Waiting to hear from HK if they are a decent match.

All new in the box. Waiting for 4 years for me to get started. smile.gif

I bought one today! I was just wondering if i should have bought 2, lol. But if you have 2 subs do you put the 2 on front? I was only thinking of getting a second one to make the speakers setup even. smile.gif. So if i have 2 at the front would that be too much of a speakers/bass?
I got 5.1 setup and the BIC F12 is going back.

No such thing as too much bass. smile.gif But if it's a small room, 1 sub may be sufficient. Your ears have to decide. If you have some frequency analysis software, you could see if you have any glaring dips in bass response. If so, a second sub could help smooth those out.

So how does the RW-12D compare to the F12?

i can't compare it to 12d yet as i haven't received it. BIC is a so so to me, i'll find out which one is better once I received my 12d.

For $300 is this a good sub?

I need a powered sub soon because I'm going to try and do a 5.2 to a 7.2 setup.

I just hooked mine up and it's hard to believe you can get this for $299 despite the QC issues. Mine shipped with a broken peg so the front grill isn't held on particularly securely. I'll have to phone Newegg/Klipsch to try to see what they can do.

This thing is also a fair bit bigger than I anticipated. Guess I got used to the tiny footprint of my PSW111.

For the money it's a great sub. I highly recommend it at that price.

And stating the obvious, if one wants better, they're going have to pay more. Quid pro quo baby. tongue.gif

A bit of a newbie question but i'm hearing various arguments for/against using a RCA female to 2 RCA male splitter when hooking up the sub.

A while back in this thread, people were saying that their standby didn't work properly and they were told that they should be using this splitter to get the standby power to work. Mine seems to work perfectly with this splitter because the screen says 'standby' after a little while. Some people also said that it reduced hiss in their setups and other people are saying not to use it.

Bottom line: Is there any detriment/benefit to using this splitter?

Yes. The measurable benefit is a 3dB boost in measured output at the main listening position due to a stronger input signal. As to being detrimental, not all subs are intended to run on such a strong input signal. My understanding, this is a problem with older subs and not a problem with newer subs. The best suggestion would be to give the manufacture's customer service office a call and ask the phone attendant what their take on the issue is. And even customer service is well known for booting issues of this kind.

My take, use it as a tool, not an end. Personally, I have one sub hooked up with a "Y" splitter and the other on a mono RCA connection so as to evenly calibrate the sub's output at a measured one meter but that's the how and why of what I'm doing. YMMV.

Hi. I've got one rw12d already with rf83s, and rc64. I've been trying to find the rt12d, but haven't had any luck. I'm thinking I'd just get a 2nd rw12d. I'm in Canada. Any ideas how I can get this?
Will be selling a RW12 (original) in a couple of days after my FV15HP arrives. I'm thinking $250 local pickup in Palm Bay Florida.

Appreciate the response. I'll probably give them a shout to see what they say but I'm not hoping for much given that a lot of CSR's simply don't give a rats a$$. Right now I'm enjoying it but it's such severe overkill for my current room. Gotta keep this thing pretty low.

Call Klipsch. They replaced mine, no questions asked. They are familiar with the problem.

I'm probably going to end up hoping I can find another one of these in the next month or so.. With my 7.2 receiver I figure what the hell, at times I feel like my room would benefit from another sub.
