Klipsch RW-12d on sale for $299 at Newegg.com again today! - Page 21

Well my $300 RW-12d from NewEgg just arrived at my house... a total dud. The screen doesn't come on. The speaker doesn't emit any sound at all.
Looking forward to dealing with Newegg customer service.... mad.gif

Just a shot, did it come with a fuse installed?

I've seen a few times where guys thought they had the cable plugged into the sub out port of their receiver but didn't have it in the right one. I'd double check that.

This is definitely not my problem. I have two subs. When I swap the cable, the other sub turns on. Besides the screen on the top of the 12d does not turn on...

...anyone know where i find the fuse location?

Look on the back of the sub. The fuse should be housed at the bottom of where the power cord plugs in.

Thanks! Is the fuse in the plastic housing for the power cord? Do I have to unscrew this housing to get at the fuse? There is some very small writing on this housing that I can't read.

There is no replaceable fuse for the rw. Contact Newegg asap.

Done. Thank you. I started a "claim". They say that UPS will come and pick it up. Then I have to wait two weeks for a "determination".

I know that Newegg has the best price on this sub, but it does dip down to under $330 occasionally on Amazon. I wonder if it is worth paying the extra $30 per sub for a more lenient return policy?

Yeah tell me about it. You gotta ask yourself, how good deal is it if it arrives damaged and newegg tells you to call Klipsch warranty service and Klipsch warranty service doesn't pay for shipping across the country on a 50lb subwoofer that arrived defective at your door.

Right now I have a one day old $300 50lb paper weight... while I am waiting for Newegg to do an "investigation"... they want to try to blame the carrier for damaging it and so I have to wait for that process which could take up to two weeks... I don't know what they will tell me if UPS refuses them... pretty steamed... mad.gif

Judging by my past dealings with Amazon, they would have just immediately emailed me a pre-paid return shipping label.

I just got my last week. Outer box was a bit nicked up but the main box was in perfect condition. Took out the sub to inspect it. Everything was in perfect order. Grill was still attached, had the correct power cord. LCD screen lit up. I plugged that badboy in and all I can say is WOW. This thing is worth every penny.

To contrast, in the last two months I have purchased two subwoofers from newegg both of which arrived defective right out of the box. The first came with a 5.1 system, the second was the RW-12d.

I am starting to think that poor quality control, and a rigid return policy are a big part of the reason why newegg is able to deliver these speaker systems often for substantially less than other places. It is great if you are one of the lucky ones, but if you are not so lucky like me then it sucks really bad.

Pretty aggressive for a first sub but that's the right way to do it. Better to buy a bit above what you'll need because selling off old stuff is annoying.

My father-in-law has terrible luck with anything that has a cord attached. On the other hand (knock on wood), I have excellent luck with anything purchased with a cord attached (or battery operated) and this goes for b-stock and refurbs. On matters regarding Newegg, my experience with them has been through computer parts and currently (again with the wood) I'm batting 1.000.

In this case, I guess I qualify as the guy with "All the luck." tongue.gif

Sorry to read you've had such terrible experiences. The point of my above is simply that there's hope the next time, Newegg, or whom ever you buy from next, will get it right. And yes, it's a shame that all these "tested" products are arriving damaged or DOA. Just recently I made a purchase with Amazon and the product arrived with a broken blade guide and one of the battery inserts had a broken retaining clip. Yep, it was package it up, to the Post Office and back to Amazon with Amazon sending a replacement. Not the same as having to package up a fifty pound or more subwoofer but it's the best I've got for solidarity. cool.gif

Personally, the packaging of the recently returned Amazon purchased item, although having a "new" seal on the manufacture's box that required cutting, the interior contents of the box came across as if a return; torn inside and products not in sealed packages as we've become accustomed to. B-stock being represented as new?

This consumer/manufacture/distributor phenomenon is becoming more and more prevalent with the advent of liberal, online return policies as irrespective of return policies, these products have to be dumped and my guess, right or wrong, b-stock is being dumped as new on the unsuspecting, online, buying public.

This is exactly why I'm holding off getting this RW-12D for the XV-15, lol! I know that I will always want to get the XV-15 so I might as well save my $300 and wait till $500 more free up (tax return smile.gif) and BOOM, excessive base for my face!! biggrin.gif

I have the RW-12d codes loaded into my Harmony and even played with them a little and, indeed, they work. Then it occurred to me that I've never seen a remote sold with this sub. Was a remote ever made for this?

The current RW-12d does not ship with a remote according to the product manual.

When it was made in 2006, did it EVER have a remote? Has anyone ever seen one?

My buddy bought one and had 0 issues. No box damage, no rattles, powered up and pounds. I just ordered one myself, comes in tomorrow, I hope I have the same luck!
Mine came with no problems and the first thing I did was shake it back and forth to see if I can hear a rattle. No rattle and it's working solid...knock on wood.

I just got mine. Well packaged in it's double box, but there were some holes in the outer box. The inner box had minor damage, but the sub was pristine. They are definitely new and not refurbed. Both of mine have the loose port rattling around in there.

I am thinking I will just try and glue it back in place. It does appear to be fitted with a friction fit with no adhesive. I just hope there are no problems with any damage inside the box due to the port being loose.

Hopefully they both work without any issue. Gonna pull the HSU STF-2 and see what the difference is tomorrow. smile.gif

You have nothing with an RCA line level output or even something with a speaker level output? I don't think I've been in that position for 44 years now smile.gif so it seems a bit strange to me....
