But which La Scala? Aren't there like 50 years of those things in various versions? I believe the oldest didn't have much bass from what I remember reading...

The original La Scala were built from 1963 to 2005. The La Scala ii can still be bought for $3500 each and they only go down to 51 Hz. I dont know which kind he has. Several people have asked for pictures but he refuses to post any. But what I cant understand is why someone would spend that kind of money on 2 speakers and have a budget subwoofer.
I've seen the originals go for six or eight hundred over the last several years. Not many folks these days would even consider a speaker that size and because of these changing times some folks just want to get rid of them. I certianly wouldn't mind taking them off someones hands if I could get them for that price when I had the cash to spare. Don't know where I would put them though!

Budget perhaps?
Either way as you crank up the volume on those La Scala's I bet you would need a good subwoofer (or two) to keep up with them.

What's wrong with a budget subwoofer that gets the job done? Maybe he doesn't listen to levels so high the RW12D can't keep up. The La Scala is a nice speaker but its still just a Klipsch

Your wish is my command...

I bought one of these to replace a very old Ace-Bass B2-50 (dual 6" push pull config) in my living room...needless to say it has been a HUGE upgrade. I put it through some scenes from The Avengers and Dredd 3D tonight and the difference from the old sub was incredible- it was like watching those movies for the first time!
For those of you worried about packaging/shipping my sub was packed IMPECCABLY from newegg- see my pictures in the attached album. Full outer box with 2" thick Styrofoam all around, and the correct cables and accessories inside. I was extremely impressed with the packaging. The manufacture date on my sub was 10/12 for what it's worth as well.

Frustrating when they are late shipping, but even more exciting then unpackaging! Congrats on your purchase!

Mine came packaged the same way which was a good job by newegg. When you say it came with cables and accessories, what do you mean? Mine came with 1 cable to plug it in.
I went from a Definitive Technology Prosub 1000 (mistake) to this and it has made quite a difference. The DefTech was decent but just too small for my living room. 16'w X 20'd X 17'h and open to the kitchen/dining/breakfast area. This made all the difference in the world and was much more affordable than the DefTech. I just hooked it up to my Denon AVR 1911 and placed it in the same spot. I have not re-run Audyssey yet so it may improve more.
Anyway...thank you again.

My Equipment: 5.1system
Denon AVR1911
Energy CB-20 Fronts
Energy CC-10 Center (this thing is awesome)
Proficient Audio W680 in-wall rears

You do realize that you can still use the Prosub ALSO, don't you?!

I just received my RW-12D yesterday and wanted to say thank you to all of you that have contributed to this forum. I am a long-time lurker and greatly appreciate your input. I ordered mine from Newegg and everything looks great and works great. The port was not loose and it came with everything that it should.

There is a reason this thread has stayed alive . . . It is a great sub at the newegg price point! Glad you too are as satisfied out of the gate in your application. And you just got some great advice of trying to run the Deftech in your application in tandem with your new RW-12d. Congrats.
Lastbutnotleast may know better than me. They can both be used on your Denon, hooked up correctly. But only you will be able to tell if you like it in the end.
My Denon 4311 will eq two subs through Audyssey . . . I do not think your model of,Denon does it,the same way . . . but it can be worked out. There is a way to piggyback your two subs. Whether you like the result or not will be your call.
It will be free (plus the cost of another sub cable) for you to try it out. If you do not like the result, you could always sell the Def Tech and fund a second new RW-12d and have perfectly matched subs.
IMHO, you should at least give it shot before writing off the Def Tech as an epic fail.
All the best to you.

The Prosub 1000 likely does not have the volume output of the Klipsch. Therefore, try placing it nearer to you so that it does not have to work hard to keep up with your RW-12d. Otherwise, the Prosub will reach it's limits first and be the limiter on your setup.

Thanks for the posting that splitter. My Denon only has one LFE out so I will have to use the splitter. I am thinking of putting the ProSub beside the sofa but do not have any speaker terminal near (only power). What do you all think of the wireless options similar to this: Rocketfish RF-WSW312 at best buy

of their Edison NJ center. Great news for me because it's just a state over from where I live and it's set to be delivered today.
Only problem is I ordered a subwoofer cable from Monoprice and shipped from California - damn. Now I gotta wait, unless I steal my other cable from my bedroom HT setup.
Decisions..Decisions..
