i am in the process of upgrading yet AGAIN...here is what the plan is...

4 Alpine Type R SWR-1242D
2 Kenwood 1800(900rms)mono amps

My question is this,(i really have been trying to find this information online so i didnt have to bother you)...how much air space is required for 4 of these subs,slot ported box design,the center 2 will fire upwards,then there will be 1 on each end at about a 45 degree angle

also,thinking about tossing something together for the woman,i have 2 kicker comp 12's,and a kicker comp 10,all svc 4 ohm..if i wire all of them together,how many ohms does that make?

Can I have max dimensions of what you have available space-wise? L-W-H

Are you set on those amps? Or would you take a recommendation?

All three wired parallel would yield a 1.3333333 ohm load at 4 ohms exact each.


I would choose either the single 10 or the two twelves. not both. It can be done but some complications can occur

Youre looking at atleast 5 cf. Thats without looking at alpines recommended enclosure size.

That's what I thought.

Habeba is correct. You will in almost certainly, need at least five cubes internal if not six. And that is not counting port volume.

Also, if the amps are not strap able, I would suggest running the subs in two chambers. It will keep any voltage differences from affecting the other subs running off the different amp. You have to pay particular attention to the gain setting of both amplifiers if the subs share a common chamber.

If you have the room, I suggest using around six cubic feet. Two chambers of three cubic feet each. Each chamber uses a 6 inch port ID. 16.5 inches long. On my ipad so can't determine if that is enough port area to keep air velocity down but it is a good start.

So that three cubes will also have to account for the volume of the subs and the volume of the port.

Your tuning should be around thirty five hertz plus or minus a couple by my quick calculation.

I would leave the port external initially. Cut a few pieces of varying lengths and see what sounds best/gives you the output you want. A longer port tunes lower and obviously shorter is higher. Tuning lower digs deeper at the loss of some output volume generally.
