I have been a Sony fan for years. I am upgrading my XBR and deciding between these two. I saw the Elite in stores and it has some of the most amazing black levels I have ever seen. I saw the Sony today and it looked pretty good. I have not compared them side by side.

The Sony is about $4500 and the Elite is $4148 if the link above is the correct one. Any thoughts from the videophiles out there?

I was not sure if the Elite has wifi. The Best Buy rep told me it does not.

How do I check to see if alltimetvs is a reputable/trustworthy store?

I went to Best Buy today and spoke to a specialist. They told me that Elite is full array and has LEDs everywhere. They said Sony is not full array, like they claim. Instead, they have LEDs on the top row and the bottom row. Then they have scattered LEDs in the middle but not everywhere like the Elite. They call it local dimming but its not full array. I'm not sure if this is true but the Sony did not have as dark black levels.

Does anyone know if you can stream wirelessly the laptop with Intel Widi to the Elite?

Can't go wrong with either... I'd pick Elite however, as it's primary focus is Picture Quality while Sony might provide more Bells and Whistles.

If you're open to other brands... I personally haven't seen a LCD/LED TV I liked that much, All of these arrays non-sense, edge lit, etc... is to FIX the inherent fault of LCD/LED technology and they still cannot beat Plasma quality no matter what... and I'd pick a Plasma like this one instead. That Best Buy employee was wrong as it applies to the HX929/HX950 - it *is* full array. But the Sharp Elite supposedly has more control zones, as a difference.
