Building new house, please help with theater room

First off let me say I'm possibly the most un-handy man on avsforum so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the process of selling my house and looking to build a new house. I've been looking at many houses by a few local builders both plans and some finished houses. I'm looking to do a dedicated theater room.

If I build from scratch what is my best approach to have things built correctly in the home theater room (will probably end up in basement) in terms of hvac, pipes, etc not being in the home theater room upon building so I don't have to go back in and spend a bunch of money trying to change things around?

I'd like to have the theater room unfinished and hire someone like Big come out and build the room or someone local. Is it best to contact them before the build to work with the builders?

Thanks for any help and please feel free to give your 2 cents on anything else I should be looking to do.

"Big" gets great reviews, and has a lot of experience with Green Glue and soudproofing. As we discussed via PM, I would get the pro-layout service, and get Big to come build the room.

Thats my $0.02 haha

Thanks

I think you'll find that Big wants to work with guys willing to put in the sweat equity. I seriously doubt you'll be able to just hire him to build it FOR you. But we'll let him speak for himself.

If we get out the Ouija board and all chant "Big, Big Big" maybe he'll pop in and answer for himself. Lighting a few candles around the board wouldn't hurt any, either.

Couldn't sleep the curse of Logan woke me up. I prefer to work with the homeowner helping, if you don't have the time or interest I would need for you to line up a local handyman for the project that I would work with. Also would need a local drywall crew.

Sometimes I amaze myself.

The OP is from late last year. Is this project still alive?
