Silverstone HTPC GD08 case out of stock

Bummer, I wanted to buy this today but most places (i.e Newegg, Amazon, etc.) were showing "temporary out of stock". I wonder if a new model is coming out or supply is so limited because it is flying off the shelves. Don't really want to consider an alternative but what is close to this full size HTPC case? Thanks.

Check out this link......they are an authorized seller for Silverstone products and is where I purchased my GD08 due to the same issues you are experiencing......

When you place the order, it is drop shipped straight from Silverstone itself.

Besides that, Sundial Micro and FrozenCPU have it in stock, I don't know if it is correct, however.

Most disappointing. Earlier this week, I ordered one from one of the suggested vendors which states that they have stock. Just received an e-mail to the effect that they don't have it and Silverstone is not shipping any out. Just wondering out loud if this case is so popular or is Silverstone having manufacturing issues?. Perhaps I should take another look at the Lian Li cases but the GD08 appears the top choice for larger htpc cases at the moment. Best regards.

I had a GD08 and now I have the LC10B and let me tell you, the LC10B is a much better case. The only difference was the GD08 can hold more hard drives because of the 5.25" bays, but I have 6 drives in my LC10B and frankly unless you're adding controllers to your mobo, you're usually not going to fit more than 6 in a case no matter how much space you have. The LC10B looks much better from the front, more like a piece of HT equipment and less like a computer.

Hi, I just joined AVA today. This is the topic I have been researching for the last several days as well. I am in the process of building an new gaming/HTPC and wanted the Silverstone GD08 case. I didn't want a flip down door like the GD07. I finally called Silverstone on the phone. They said they had the GD08 on a container ship, but due to the dock strike in California it was stuck out at sea. The man suggested frozencpu.com. Their prices were a lot higher than Amazon. Well, the dock strike is over now so I will see if it ever gets in stock at amazon. I contacted Amazon as well. They couldn't really give me much info as to a stock date. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up on the LC10B. I will check it out but I have a few questions for you. This model is a couple of years old right? I want USB 3.0 ports and this one does not have it, right? Is this case quiet? The GD08 comes with 120mm fans. Shouldn't this be quieter than the LC10B?

xr1200, welcome to AVS. Frozen CPU was one of the first vendors I checked. FYI. They do not have it in stock. Not sure what your time frame is but hope the strike related issues get resolved quickly. For me, the only other item that I am waiting for is the CPU cooler. Have to see how patient I will be. Best regards.

When you guys do get your hands on one, you will be very pleased. I've enjoying mine for a few weeks now. SO MUCH ROOM!!!

Thanks for the welcome. I gave up on the gd08 and bought a mid tower corsair that should look fine next to my stereo speaker. It might actually balance the look with the sub woofer on the other side. A couple of other ideas for you are the cooler master elite 360. My current pc is in the 360 case positioned on my T.V stand with other AV components. It is quiet and will fit an ATX mobo and a shorter GPU. Another thought is the Fractal Design Node 605. It is in stock at NCIX. I don't know much about it, but it looks like a nice case.http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=75057&vpn=FD-CA-NODE-605-BL&manufacture=Fractal%20Design&promoid=1066

Node 605 is the best "micro"ATX case for videophiles: support for a taller CPU cooler and more HDDs than GD04/GD05. (You can't use an ATX mb if you install an [slim] optical drive.)

I really have no idea on the USB ports. I have nothing plugged into it except an IR receiver because it's an HTPC, not a daily use computer (however it works great for normal computer using Windows without Borders and my laptop). As far as sound, I have four of the silent fans with the rubber isolation mounts in there and I swear to you, you can't hear it from 2' away. When I first built it, I thought it wasn't powering up because it's so quiet. The case is built like an absolute tank.

And, the case doesn't come with fans I don't think. I've never purchased a Silverstone case that came with fans. So the fans you choose will make a difference.

Actually, looking at Amazon, it's right in the title.

Silverstone Tek Aluminum/Steel ATX Media Center/HTPC Case with 2X USB 3.0 Front I/O Ports - Retail Cases SST-LC10B-E-USB3.0 (Black)
There is a revision of LC10-E (model no. SST-LC10B-E), called SST-LC10B-E-USB3.0, that has two front USB 3.0 ports and is available at many stores, e.g. Newegg.

Just checked Amazon.com this morning. The GD07 is back in stock. It is similar to the GD08 only the 07 has a flip down door.http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-GD07B-Aluminum-Extended-Computer/dp/B007X8TQW0
post #17 of 18
Any one using this case GD07? I'm concerned about the flip open door. Every tower that I built over time the door breaks or is just a pain to deal with. I Like the look of the SST-LC10B-E-USB3.0 and like the 7 -3.5 bays my concern is the 2 80mm fans and how noise those will make. I think the GD07 and 08 might have better cooling.

Anyone want to chime in with there feelings on either of these cases from the above posts. The GD08 no one has in stock I checked every site on silverstone.

I am choosing between Node 605 and GD04B. I like design of Node 605 very much, but by this review http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/3505/7/f...production is Fractal Design Node 605 much more noiser than Silverstone GD04... It is very surprising for me, because I think that Node 605 is very quiet thanks to dampening material on top cover. Quiet case is one of my top requirements for cases and by this review is old Silverstone GD 04 much better variant for me although I prefer design of Node 605...

Do you think, that this review is credible enough, because I still cannot believe that case with dampening on top cover (Fractal Design Node 605) has worst results than simple case (Silverstone GD 04)...
