Super Slow Connection to my PS3

I have my PS3 hooked up wirelessly. On my laptop, I'm getting a download speed of 22 mbps and an upload of about 4. When I do an Internet connection test on the PS3, it says I'm getting 4 download, and about .5 up! Anyone know what the issue is??

Is your laptop connected via 802.11N? The PS3 can't do N.

Here's what my desktop says, my PS3 says DL of 6mbps.

I have my laptop hooked up wirelessly as well.

Why the discrepancy? Obviously, you're having some major differences too. Also, I'm jealous of your FIOS.

Your laptop may be hooked up via 802.11n, which is faster than the 802.11b/g the PS3 is capable of.

I just tested my wired (gigabit) PS3, it got 7.3 download and 2.2 upload. The wireless one is the one that got 6 on download.

I don't know what the tests are run against. If they are run against a Sony site, it could just be their connection isn't fast. I know downloading games is a whole lot slower than it should be.

Or, maybe it's just a PS3 thing.

I have never had good results with the PS3 speed test results either wired or wirelessly even after hooking it up direct without a router. I think their test is just crap to be honest. I will have a 20 mb/s download speed on testing via my iphone, ipad, pc, and then get like 1.6 mb/s on the PS3. I stopped worrying about it. I play games and stream video lag-free even with those test results.

I hardwired in and got much better results in regards to the speed test. But as far as the actual performance... seems like there's no difference. Perhaps the test just sucks when testing wirelessly.
