Any Advice for New Speaker Setup?

Hey Everyone,

I am building a home theater for my living room. My setup is:

Receiver: Pioneer VSX-42
TV: Sony KDL NX810
Speakers: Polk Audio RM 75
Subwoofer: Polk Audio PSW505

Components: AppleTV, PS3

Just wanted to hear some experts opinions. I don't have space for floor standing speakers. Is this a pretty good setup? Right now I have a smaller sized living room but plan to be moving soon. Will it be good for a larger room?

Those speakers wont cut it for a large room. The sub isnt great, but its more cut out for a larger room then tiny satellite speakers.

What speakers would you suggest for around $300? Are there better ones I could get for that price range or should I just sit on these until I can spend more money?

For speaker wire, I've heard mixed reviews. I purchased just pretty standard stuff a long time ago (AUD-5610-99 --> Cables Unlimited Pro A/V Speaker Wire). Thinking of upgrading to Monster speaker wire. Is it worth it?

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to make sure I don't f myself with bad wires.

The Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers are excellent. Music Direct sells them for $349 per pair. The front speakers need to be larger than what you have; the PSW505 is not too bad.

If that is outside your budget, another good small pair is the Cambridge Audio S30, which are $219.

Either of those speakers will be a HUGE upgrade over the front speakers you have.

For speaker wires, get some #14 speaker wire from Monoprice; product #2748 for $13.

Everything Monster makes is pretty poor in my experience; that's one brand I never recommend.

Thanks for the advice. I just bought some of the monoprice 14 gauge. Too bad I have to wait for it to ship now, but it'll be worth it. Going to keep digging into different speakers while I wait. I appreciate all of the advice.
