Looking to upgrade from older Plasma to LCD

Hello everyone!

I currently have a Panasonic TH50pz80u that is getting on in age. I was thinking about upgrading to an LCD type television. I mainly use my TV hooked up to my PC gaming rig to play games and as an extra desktop. Especially now with steam big picture mode its pretty great! I am interested in the quality of 3D. Mostly 3D from gaming since I would run it from my PC through my nvidia card.
My second biggest usage for it is Movies. I don't watch television at all.

My biggest problems with my current TV are the dithering and annoying buzzing noise it makes. Oh and its a furnace in the summer time!

I was looking to upgrade to a Samsung UN55ES7500. I could possibly swing the ES8000 if it is really worth the extra money but would rather not shell it out. From what it looks like the TV supports chroma 4:4:4 which is great.

Would the picture quality upgrade on the Samsung be worth ditching my current Panasonic plasma for?
Any input would be much appreciated!

Sorry to bump my own thread! Doing a bit more reading and the Sony HX850 looks like a contender too. It's the same price as the ES7500. Which TV would be the better option?

Anyone have any recommendations? I have been out of the game for a while.

I can't speak highly enough of the HX850 series. I have the HX825 from last year (the equilalent of this year's 850) and it really is a superb panel. Apart from the usual edge-lit characteristics I really cannot fault it.

The 850 has most of the processing and dimming trickery of the higher-end Sony 9XX series panels.

Will there be an appreciable difference in picture quality from what I have now to a current generation TV?

My friend has a Sony tv, the picture is pretty good without him dialing it in buy the crosstalk on the 3d is really bad.

The best 3D Ive seen so far is the panny vt50 plasma. The lcds to me arent quite as fluid.
