What do you care what others believe in? Red despite what many of its fan boy customers believe is a not a deity nor a savior. It is a digital movie camera company,
The Redray is still not shipping now over ten months since preorders started to be taken. An initial beta batch was shipped and a few more since then but maybe these were returns. Reportedly, the software is still not ready but a departed spokesman said months before departing, a software delay wouldn't be Reds fault but the fault of their subcontractor. Fan boys understand this defense and completely accept it. Red's webstore still keeps saying new orders are expected to ship in 2 to 3 weeks as it now has been saying for at least 3 or 4 months. When you call, they said they have brought up to management's attention that customers complaining about management knowingly making this false claim instills less confidence that this companies promises are in areas other than cameras mostly BS. Red claims it will no longer promote things until the thing is ready. But their continuing to state new orders are expected to ship within 2 to 3 weeks reflect this is BS too.
And poor Odemax, they have been ready for awhile but they are dead in the water until significant numbers of Redrays are out in consumers' hands. At the new price of $1750 this is not likely to happen even if Red can get their subcontractor to perform. Remember, its not Red's fault. Its not Red's fault. It's not Red's fault. Better dead than not Red. Better dead than not Red. Better dead than not Red. Buy Red instead.Edited by mark haflich - 10/9/13 at 6:30am
