iRule Cloud and internet access

I have a couple of questions concerning iRule and how it works. Once the applications are created using the oline builder and downloaded to the IOS/Android devices, will the system function without access to the internet? By this I mean that the local WiFi network is up and running, but no outside access.

The second question really concerns cloud storage in general. What happens if iRule as a company closes its doors? Do we then have no way to update/change the configuration?

Yes and Correct, respectively.

You only need Internet access to sync your handset (meaning to pick up changes you've made in the builder). After that, it only needs your local network to access the gateways.

If iRule were to go under and turn everything off, we would probably not have a way to update the configurations unless somebody did an amazing job reverse-engineering everything which seems excessively unlikely.
