Blu-ray picture and sound quality

I don’t own a blu-ray player and I have never seen a film on blu-ray. I finally upgraded my AVR to a Denon avr-4520ci so that I can finally hook that kind of stuff up.

My next upgrade is either a blu-ray player or a streamer like a Roku or Apple TV. Is there a significant difference in the picture and sound between blu-rays and streaming HD?
