Pioneer SW-8MK2 vs Pioneer SW-8 ?

Found a press release here. The article states that “These new models are just as affordable, but now have even better sound quality." However, there are no specific details about the sub woofer itself. I'd agree it's not an amazing sub, but for smaller applications its price point ($79) was hard to beat.

I cant say I compared the two of them directly, but I did compare it against other budget subs at Best Buy. IMO it provided the smoothest cleanest bass of all the subs they had. I compared it against the Kilpsch 450 350, polk psw110, psw111, psw10. It didnt hit as hard as the 450, but it was much cleaner sounding. No where near as boomy. I had BB price match Newegg and got two of them for $79. Granted they are no pro subwoofer but they are a hell of a deal for a budget musical sub.
I run them off of my preamps main 2 outputs to help improve my mains low freq in 2 channel. Its a hybrid system so they are also part of my HT setup. They blend well with my dsw600. It was a very impressive experience with Dark Knight Rises.
