Can PLEX (installed on a Home Server) pull recorded TV from your HTPC (other W7MC machine)

Unless it has changed since last year when I researched this, W7MC can only record TV on a local machine and not to the network/media server. Can PLEX be set up to feed media files not on it's own box? Can it "serve" the Recorded TV folder on the HTPC which recorded it? Obviously if it can, the HTPC has to be turned on as well...

You'd still run into the issue with any CopyOnce programs. Also, if you run WHS, you can auto archive shows to the server. Even without that, its pretty easy to set up a task to do it for you.

Can PLEX even play the .wtv files that WMC 7 creates? You may need to convert them into something more standard first.

yes, plex can play WTV files.

I just created a section called PVR and point the PMS to my recorded tv directory on the machine that has my recordings. Because of the naming conventions of MC, Plex is not able to pull metadata. It just lists channels and time.

Sorry yes I forgot to mention that my cable company is copy freely for all channels except premium which I don't subscribe to anyway. So I have been able to stream just about everything using Plex as it is now, but I was wondering if I added a server to my network if I could still pull my recorded TV and serve it using Plex installed on the server. i would rather not do automatic transfers of all my recordings from my HTPC to the Server.
