Using Stretched Canvas Prints as room treatments?

hi guys. I recently start buying stretched canvas prints for our house. I don't know much along the lines of room treatments, but from pictures I see of other people's HT's, they look sorta similar. I was curious as to thoughts on using large canvas prints as room treatments, or even further to that, using some sort of "fill" to fill in the empty space behind the print itself to improve its "room treating ability". thoughts??
