is it just me or do some of the red and black connections where you slide the speaker wire look broken on some sides? would the wire still stay in?

I have been looking for a used nad for over a year. i wish that this was in better condition. the people who bought it at a storage locker don't know if it works. i guess they bought a big lot of stuff and the stereo stuff was in it.

Looks like the springs that keep pressure on the speaker wire are broken.

is it hard to fix or broken for good stanley? i offered 25 for it because of the condition, so since the springs are broke the wire would just fall out right unless i taped it? ps cool monkey pic

That's not a monkey. That was me 50 years ago. You could probably jerry rig the wires to stay in. You might be able to replace the posts with new ones. Don't get brand smitten just because it's a NAD. It's just a an old amp as far as I'm concerned.
Don't mean to rain on your parade.

stanley the display on the front that shows you what imput that you have on looks badly scratched to me or maybe cracked what do you think? 3 to 4 nad deals were made this year, but the sellers were shady and wanted to much. one even said in the ad 100 for everythig and a cd player. they later said no just the pre amp for A 100 AND another 100 for the power amp. I don't really want to spend more then 60 or 70 for a 1980s nad. I see that the prices are 2 and 300 bucks a lot of times on ebay. I was going to save up and get the new 326bee but I thought that i would try a few more times before the end of the year for a used amp. this one is 1995 so it is newer.

Save up for a better one. IMHO.

i do get excited about nads, but your right other old amps sound just as good. I have been listening to a old zenith receiver lately in my room. it picks up some radio stations better then my old sony. if it was you stan would you stay away from that nad? this seller doesn't know what nad is so I thought that i could get a good deal with her compared to the major resellers that go to the thrift stores and estate sales and reselll for big bucks.

do you ever like to switch different brand amps and speakers for your set ups sometimes in a few months? for 3 weeks I was using the yamaha receiver with sansui speakers. i think that i am going to hook up the sansui speakers to my heath pre amp and power amp for better sound.

Sorry but I wouldn't make a 2 hour drive if it were for free.

there is a guy with a nad receiver cd player and two expensive psb speakers but he wants $650.00. he is 4 hours away. I can't pay that much used. his amp is only 7 years old.

Just one. I don't remember the model number. I've owned lots of audio gear. Sold it all after my wife died and moved to Arizona for a year. Back in Seattle now and am starting over. Click on the link in my sig. Just some of the stuff I've owned.
It can get to be a very expensive hobby. Now that I've retired my budget is much less.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwww your stereo gear is impressive. you have stuff that most people only dream about having. you even have the expensive thiel speakers krell expensive cary and bryston. aren't bryston amps like 2 or 3 thousand and up? I hear that they are the only amp close enough to a mctintosh though.

I bought a pair of those Brystons used. They didn't sound any better than the receiver I had at the time. If you need the power amps are worth it. If not they are a waste of money. Just my opinion.

in a blind test you mean it would be hard to tell the bryston nad rotel emotiva over the cheaper receivers unless you need a lot of power that the receivers can't do because of the small heat sinks?

like mainly huge bass output that the small receivers can't do?

when I heard a cheap aiwa bookshelf speaker hooked up to a 70s heath power amp and a optimus 5 cd changer that I tested it with I was amazed though. I never saw a aiwa speaker sound that good before on a small aiwa system.
That's what subwoofers are for.

the people selling the amp didn't have speakers to hook it up to so i brought the aiwa speaker figuring if I blow it it doesn't matter.

when i was a teen I remember big speakers and a few years later passive subs. now a lot of stuff is powered subs and smaller speakers. i saw some floor standing energy speakers a 10 inch energy sub and three small energy speakers at sears last night. I didn't know that they carried energy. I used to see them demo the cheap home theater in a box stuff only.

I think thats the metal reacting with the oils from the persons hands/fingers over time. And the tabs are not broken just pointing directly at the camera....its the angle and the tabs that look missing are closed!

thanks for letting me know Titan. I decided to forget about the amp since some of the connectors are messed up. i would only be using it for stereo, but I worry that it won't even power on if i go to the trouble of trying to replace the connectors. I don't know what I am doing, so i might mess it up more trying to fix the connectors
