Hi all,
Looking for a short list of bookshelf speakers to consider.
Bookshelf size (doesn't have to be that small, but no towers or almost-towers)
-- these will likely be placed on a wide media center, not on stands.
Decent quality looks
-- no plain black vinyl; at least black ash or gloss. Colored wood finishes better. Must have grille.
Bass response -3 dB at 40 Hz in room (or better)
-- my room is open, medium size, and placement is few feet from wall.
At least 89 dB 1w/1m efficiency
-- listening position is about 10 ft. away
Budget: $800 - $1500 / pair (somewhat flexible)
On my list right now:
Ascend Sierra-1 (opt. NrT)
Soundfield Monitor 1 (A/C power is not an issue)
They are both listed at 86.5 dB, but meet the other criteria.
Thanks for the input!
