Center channel build

I would use 3 of the same if possible. The speakers in the link are meant to be standing upright, not laying down like most center channels you see.

I would first start with the right and left channels. You will better realize the amazing value and sound of a stereo pair than just a center channel. I also recommend you find a design that has plans for both the center and setero channels so your speakers match across the front.

Not knowing what your budget is, these are very modestly prices with great performs. They will be better than your Polk speaker.

Depending on your budget, there are some GREAT designs out there. I've had a lot of fun over the past 3-4 years building different kits and building my own. I feel building the speakers is the best value for my money when it comes to sound. Another thing to keep in mind, depending on your room size and again your budget, I feel the center channel speaker is the most important speaker in a HT setup. So don't look for cheap and small. Invest some time and money (within reason) into that speaker!

For a speaker that fits your budget and is a great performer check out this design. I've heard this design after building a set for a friend. He was replacing an older pair of B&W. He mentoned they have a different sound than the B&W's, but he likes them a lot and cost about half what replacing the B&W's would have cost him.

Now, if no nonsense audio is your goal, and you can increase the budget (almost double) check out this design kit. If you have the space and location available for this design, it's CRAZY good. You could easily build this center channel and then over time save up and mate them with the Mini Statements. That would give you audio performance that will blow your mind. I've built the Statements, Mini Statements, Statement CC, and a variation of the Statement CC. It's my all time favorite speaker. I LOVE THEM! But, they are outside your budget. So still with what you feel comfortable with. Don't let me talk you into changing your goals or budget.

Those Statements really do look awesome! I was planning on building a pair of Statements sometime next month after I finish my Seos-12's and sealed Dayton HO18's. Otherwise, for the OP, I highly recommend the Seos designs as for home theater, they appear to be top notch and hard to beat.

Your Yammy should drive them just fine. They always like more power, but you won't be at a huge disadvantage driving them with the Yammy.

SEOS refers to the waveguide; some designs are ported, some not.

Wow.. that Dayton 12 looks very nice! Does anyone know what it sounds like?
