That's definitely ideal, but one of the downsides of combining a Kreg screw to a joint that has thick glue on it is that as you tighten the screw the joint will "walk" slightly towards the direction the screw is going. Because of that slight movement on just about every joint, pretty much every piece of cross-bracing will have very slight dimension changes to make sure it's a snug fit.

Thanks!

Perhaps a way to avoid the "walking" would be to use a biscuit joiner. The biscuits would establish the location of the joint and then you would use pocket screws to hold it in place while the glue is drying.

Practice practice and it gets easier each time to line it up.
Also, maybe you could screw down 4 small pieces of wood, 2 on each end of the panel, .75" apart to lock the panel in place so it can't move while you screw it down, then remove them.

Are the pieces in places where the pocket screw clamps cannot be used? On edges where I would put a pocket hole I would just to be able to use the clamp. I know the folds are hard to assemble in some cases anyway so maybe even having a ripped piece of wood with L brackets screwed to it with very short screws would help just until it is in place then fill the small hole with putty since it wouldnt go all the way through the wood anyway.

Thanks for the clarification. Still uber cheap in my opinion for that much Sd and Bl.

Does anyone know if either of these drivers will work in this horn? I have one of each.

16.75" hole:

Before I screw this one on I'm going to screw the cross-bracing on first:

The 18" looks passable but it has quite a bit of ripple in the response. Not great. Also the inductance is a bit of an unknown. It could have major effects on the response shape too.

Jasper Jig FTW!

How many hours do you have into the build so far?

Oh probably 16-17 hours all together.

That's not bad. I think it took around 30 hours to build my tapped horn and it was a lot simpler, and there was only one.

Thanks for documenting it with all the photos. I put down a deposit on four UXL-18's this week.

Shoot...I am just waiting for someone else to hear them. I have been thoroughly enjoying the original pair for a few years. My friends like them but they don't really know much about audio.

When do you think you'll be ready to send the new plans? I can start building this weekend!

Sorry I thought I had already sent them...I will get the files sent today.

BTW is everyone using either the UXL or 5400?

No problem. Thanks for putting everything together. I know we all really appreciate it.

I'm using UXL's along with N8 and Steve. Luke is using the 5400's. Not sure on everyone else.

Josh, can you please send me the update plans as well?

jpmst3 @ gmail

Thanks!
UXL is the best option for me. I would love to build one with dual Alpine R's but that increases the cost to much.

I'll be putting that rubber surround thing back on, but I wanted to make sure the bolt pattern lines up. Yep!

Chrapladm how much are the Alpines there? It's like $650 for a UXL in Oz right? The Alpines are $200 each shipped here.

Unfortunately i can't...My drop send quota under my free account is past the limit for the month. The files just won't go through email they always get kicked back as too big.

Everything said and done delivered to my door the UXL's are going to be about 650 each unless I pre-ordered them. Type R is about 480 each here in OZ, Just ridiculous. I think shipping on a pair of those Type R's would be about 150-200 so I guess the Type R's are actually about the same price.

So maybe a dual Type R would be what I would build. I got a quote on a pair of Type S 15's for another build and they were about 145 for shipping. Cheap compared to the cost of them here.

In case anyone was wondering, here are the measurements I used instead of the CNC measurements to draw the template:
