I'd be lying if I said I hadn't already requested and received the Othorn plans from Ricci...

Depending on how I like the GH, I may sell two 5400's to fund a couple Othorn builds with the B&C 21" driver...

You let me know if you plan to do that. I might be interested in them LMS-U's of yours. biggrin.gif

How close are you anyway? Another week or two? I'm looking forward to hearing what you think.

Also if you get a chance post up those response flattening Gjallarhorn EQ settings for the minidsp and the DCX that I sent you. Since it seems like some others are building these it might be worthwhile to get that info out there more.

I'm getting really close. The Duratex is being delivered tomorrow, and I'll be finished with all the cross-bracing in a few days. The only pieces of cross-bracing I probably won't implement are those two 3/4" pieces that go from the back corner all the way up to the driver baffle.

The bottom plate and hatch won't take long at all, and thanks to all these pocket screws being inside the cabinet I won't have much sanding to do at all.

I would at least throw a simple triangle wedge or two in that back corner. The bottom is the least well braced panel in the whole cab. If you will be sitting the cabs on that panel it wont matter.

Sweet!

I may do the dual 15 build over the summer. The cool factor is just way too high!cool.gif

Oh of course! I'll be putting two 3/4" thick wedges there evenly spaced for sure.

Here's where I'm at with bracing. Should be done soon.

Wow. Nice work.

I really want to try a build like this, but I'll have to convince one of my concrete bunker home owning friends that we need to build one or two of these for their HT. Id be paying out structural damage claims for 20 years if I did this in my apartment.
Did you use a small screw driver to get in those small spaces?

That piece of pure awesomeness can fit in 2" spaces and it works great!

Just ordered one!

Also, because of the angle of the kreg screws, the 90 degree turn on the Milwaukee is too sharp. I use this in combination and it works perfectly:

Ah thats makes more sense now.

What exactly is that tool called?

This one looks just like the kit I have, only mine was made by Stanley:

Got these pieces cut. Not as bad as I thought they were going to be but still not fun...

Not long now. You're setting a high standard (wood working) with those cabs. Thanks again for talking so many pics.

I can't wait for my UXL's to ship.

I'll be done with the bracing tomorrow, and I should have the bottom panel and hatch finished by Tuesday:

Because my jig saw royally sucks, and it's easier of course, I'm going to keep the original bracing for the mouth as well. I also think it looks better than the new design.

For the love of God why???? Haha, 8x18SI's 12x2226 2xRLP monsters 4xultra's??? You will certainly jump into first place. My goodness I will fly to Cullyfornia to hear that if you don't die before I get there from heart palpitations...

That's four RLp18's, my friend. wink.gif

Yeah, I guess maybe I should hold out on getting anything more...at least for a bit. biggrin.gif

Plus, it sounds like stormwind has dibs.

When you build the Othorn's they will feel like a joke compared to the GH's. 36x36 seems tiny in comparison and only 5 horn path pieces! Plus it's only 4 sheets instead of 7 of cutting.

Ricci: if I do dual alpines instead of the uxl does everything above panel G stay the same? I have that much done on my two. Haven't cut driver holes or done bracing yet but all the panels except G are in.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have the funds laying around to make it work anyways.

Yes those are probably the hardest pieces in the cab to get cut right and installed. Extra adhesive and some screws go a long way. Looks like you are getting close.

Ok. The only different pieces are the braces in the mouth, the driver baffle itself obviously and those 2 extra little braces in the throat shown in the screenshot in your post. I did change the bracing in the last turn before the drivers a bit too but you can just go with whatever fits in there really.

Okay, do you have the measurements for the placement of the drivers on the G panel with the dual drivers? I can figure out the bracing easily enough.

Before I make a decision, I know no one has built it with the dual Alpines. I have no problem waiting for the UXL's to become available. The dual Alpine's would be slightly cheaper but that's not a major concern either. The main issue is that no one knows when the UXL's will become available. If you were in my shoes which build would you go for? I do have an FP14000 clone for powering two Ghorns.

Thanks! Really appreciate it.
