Need advice: best receiver/preprocessor/amp combination for $2500 or less

I need some advice. I am looking to purchase equipment for a new media room (movies and music both). I am having a hard time deciding between a single high end receiver (like the pioneer sc-68) and a good combination of separates.

Requirements: 7.1 capable. Must have 7.1 analog in. Solid power (5000 cubic foot room).

So, if you had $2500 to spend, what would you buy?

The Pioneer is an excellent choice and it has preouts if you ever feel the need for more power. Multiple subs(large) will be needed for that much space. The subs will make or break the HT.

Thanks for the response. I am leaning towards the pioneer for simplicity. There is just so much out there in this price range in separates, I want to be sure I consider the options.

Is the $2500 just for your electronics or speakers too? If you haven't purchased your speakers yet then I'd recommend starting with those and building around. If you have purchased your speakers then what do you have and how many?

That is just the amp/pre/pro or receiver. I am trying to decide between a combination of separates (totaling no more than 2500) or a receiver in the same price range.
