It's so ****ed up. And as far as the cable length goes why does it work going through the reciever. And why does it work fine on hdmi 2 out on the oppo. It will display 12bit but when I try to watch a 3d movie it says its not a 3d player. I think there is a issue there with the oppo hdmi outPut 1. Maybe works through the reciever cause the reciever boosts the single.
Gives me a headache thinking about it. Then again like u said is there a difference using deep color? I would assume when it say 12bit color it would look better then 8-bit. Also maybe it helps when calibrating
Can't be the cable since the other 16foot one going out of the reciever works good. It's a monster hd1000 high speed of should pass.
I am going to o buy the new Samsung bd player and see if it works and passes 12 bit color.
I bet if I buy the cheapest 3d Samsung it will play back fine lol
all i'm going to say is you will drive yourself NUTS if you worry about why cables(especially HDMI) don't work... haha. it reminds me of a computer, one day nothing works, the next day everything does. I don't fully understand what goes on with HDMI cables, but they definitely aren't as simple as a source forcing a signal down a wire anymore. there's communication between the two devices, and when something isn't 'right' it just doesn't work anymore.
I've had issues that were fixed by unplugging and replugging in the cable, or changing the order of power up, or flipping the direction of the cable.
I gave up trying to figure out hdmi long ago. now I just keep extras lieing around and play the trial and error game. but you could be right. the receiver could be boosting the signal. or the oppo could just have problems with the jvc.
nothing is more frustrating that having problems for 'no reason'. I mean the oppo works, the jvc works, the receiver works, the cable works, they are connected properly, and yet, there's random problems...
