Samsung un55es6150 and bad viewing angles... Should I go plasma?

Let me start by saying that I am a "Newbie" and need a little help.

I recently purchased a Samsung U55ES6150 (55 inch) from Costco and it looked great in the store, not so good above my fireplace. Previously I had a Vizio M470SL (47inch) and returned it because of the quirky wifi, but the viewing angle was much better than the Samsung.

With the Samsung, the picture is great when you are sitting directly in front of the TV, but when you sit at angle the picture seems "washed out". The room is setup in a "U" shape with the TV mounted above the fireplace. Sofas are on the left and right sides with a lounge chair in the middle directly facing the TV. The lounge chair is about 10.5 / 11 feet from the TV and gives you a perfect dead center viewing angle. The TV is mounted high on the wall above the fireplace and is tilted forward. We have high ceilings and 2 big uncovered triangular windows on both sides of the walls, nice amount of sunlight passes through. Lastly a big ceiling fan with 4 lights shine light down from above at night.

Here is a pic of the TV mounted above the fireplace:

I feel like there is only one sweet spot when watching TV on the Samsung un55es6150, and that spot is directly in front of the TV. When I am on the couch I get irritated knowing the picture is not as good as it should be. I need a TV that will give me a wider viewing angle, even if I have to sacrifice a slightly lower quality picture.

My people have told me to go with an LG Cinema series for their IPS panel and viewing angles. Others have said Plasma is the king of viewing angles, but perform best in dark rooms. I'm still doing my research, but need advice and make/model suggestions. I'm willing to spend $1200-$1800 for a 47-55 inch TV. I can go up to $2000 if the TV will give me a great viewing angle. I generally buy from Costco, but I am not limited to other stores.

Any suggestions? Make, model and size?

Thank you in advance for your time,

Chuck

Try the sony hx850. It has some of the best viewing angles from LCD in 2012 a lot of reviews say. Its 1999.00 for the 55" right now. Im planning on picking up one soon. I also have a samsung d6050 from costco last year. great picture right in front of it but it gets awful from side angles. my main complaint about it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will make sure to take a peek at the Sony HX850. At 2k it is a little pricey, but if it has great viewing angles it might be a winner. Just have to find a store that will have it on display so I can test it out.

I was also thinking about the Panasonic TC-P55ST50. Nice price, excellent reviews and awsome viewing angles. Now if I can only get used to the idea of a "Plasma" over the brightness of a LED back-lit LCD.
