2011 Mits RPTV VS 2012 MITS RPTV's... Any PQ improvement?

I currently own the 2011 WD-73640.

With the announcement of there being no more RPTV's from here on out, I've decided to get the set I really always wanted before they are no longer available. Either the 82" or the 92" set.

Now I'm only starting this thread in the hopes of getting to the bottom of finding out specifically, if there is any improvement in just the PQ of these 2 model years?

I'm aware of all the new features and stuff. I would just like to know if the picture quality of a 2012 model is any better than it's 2011 counterpart. It would be great if I could get responses from other people who happened to own a 2011 model and a 2012 model. Or maybe someone who has seen both a 2011 and a 2012 side by side etc.

If there isn't improvement in the PQ of a 2011 model VS a 2012, well then if I find a 2011 at a great deal I may as well just get that set I guess.

I already checked the 2012 owners thread but damn there's way too much info and it's all over the place. redface.gif

I'm sure others are curious about this as well...

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

When the xxx40 came out I remember many people saying that the picture quality was considerably improved over the xxx38 models. I don't see that really mentioned with people purchasing the xxx42. There has been one or two posts in the xxx42 thread that say there may be some improvement but I don't know if its a consensus.

Thanks club968 for your reply! smile.gif

I went ahead and bought a WD-82642 from paulstv.com. If anyone is interested I'll do a follow up and let everyone know if I can tell any difference between this new set and my old set, PQ wise that is.

Also if anyone is thinking about buying 1 of these sets, you need to do so now, as they are selling out fast and stock seems to be running out. Might be your last chance to get an affordable TV with a HUGE screen for a few more years. frown.gif

At least till LCD's finally get to be affordable in this size range that is. frown.gif

Thanks again club968. biggrin.gif
