FIOS Availability? Austin Texas

I'm a noob when it comes to understanding how and why AT&T has certain markets vs Verizon. Just dumped Uverse due to 1) soft PQ 2) lack of sports packages.

Can anyone provide insight into why FIOS is not available in Austin? And when it may be available, if it will be?

I would signup for both their TV and Internet service in a heartbeat.

Verizon is barely available in Austin. IOW, it's not going to happen.

The phone markets were pretty much decided in the 90's when all the telcos consolidated.

If you want FIOS in Texas, move to Dallas.

At least most of Austin has a choice of four multichannel TV providers. Some places in the US only have 2 or 3.
