Adjusting Ch Level in Decibels?

Hi everyone-

I am trying to figure out what is a good way of adjusting the channel level as my soundbar has -10 to +10 decibels for each channel. I did the auto calibration and it i gave me the following:

-2.5 Left
-.5 Right
Center +1.5
Surround Left -3
Surround Right +1.5
SWR 0


I have the YSP-2200 sound projector. I just don't think these values seem to be good since they are so low. I was just going to up everything to +6 and the center channel to +10 so I can hear the voices, but I'm not sure from a surround sound standpoint if this is a good idea since this is what they calibrated my levels to be.

Please let me know.

If the overall volume is too low, crank the volume control. If the dialog is not easy to hear, try turning off the surround mode. Or yes you can add a few dB to the center trim. It's ok to experiment.

What I'm trying to find out is how exactly "high" can you set these values... I think they would sound good at like +6 everything and then +9 on the center channel.. Is that not always true?? Sorry I'm new to surround sounds.

Assuming you followed directions for how to use the auto calibration feature, the trim levels it set should give you the best surround based on your room, primary seating position, and distance from the bar. This is the same thing that calibration programs do on AVRs with discrete speakers. I think you are confusing balance (which is what the dB values represent) with volume. As Roger said, you can experiment by making slight adjustments, usually .5dB at a time, if something doesn't sound quite right to you.
