Help with Wii HDMI converter......

Hi,
This is probably an easy fix but I'm not really tech saavy so.......my problem is that I don't get any sound from my Wii through my HD TV. I bought a converter and an HDMI cable to plug it all into my TV. It will read and play my game disks but no sound. I've checked the TV settings to make sure that the sound is on. Any suggestions? What do you mean by "converter"? Any straight connection from WiiU to TV should work.

I have a Wii that is about 5-6 years old so I bought a Wii to HDMI Adapter.

Does your HDTV have a component video input (Red, Green, Blue)? For my setup, I bought a Wii component cable that worked fine. If you can't get the HDMI to work, you might try that.

Plug something else in to the TV that does HDMI. Do you get sound? If so, then the Wii2HDMI adapter is likely defective. If you don't get sound, then that leads toward a TV setting being off somewhere.
