Subwoofer Help to match with Klipsch 5.1 system

Hello,
My first post. Been trolling for awhile. I had a question in regards to buying a sub for my 5.1(or2) set up. I have a large room (15x25) which I have gotten prewired for a projector and TV setup. I don't have a receiver yet but I am thinking something like the Onkyo NR-818 or Denon 2411. As of right now I've bought:
Klipsch RF82 towers
Klipsch RC62 center
Klipsch RS52 surrounds.

I was planning on purchasing a subwoofer that will complete the set which is on sale right now.

But the more I read about the subwoofer on this site, the more I realized that their might be better options. I've heard lots of the HSU and SVS subwoofers and I might be able to spend the money if its something I will keep for a future system. Here are two other options I was considering:

That's a good-sized room and a solid set of speakers. It deserves a good sub (or two). At a minimum, I'd go with the SVS PB-1000 ($499, shipped) - get one now, add another one later on. smile.gif

Oh, and I'd go with the Onkyo TX-NR818. It's a very well-equipped AVR.

If it was me, I would buy a $300-500 receiver (Denon with MultiEQ) and spend about $1K on a sub.
Something like this for $450:

It has tons of bells and whistles including Audyssey MultiEQ XT and should have no issues driving your efficient 8ohm speakers.

I would say spend $1K or so on your subs. On your budget I would go with these two options:

The PSA sub at under $800 shipped should be at the top of your list. You can always add another later.

Ok sounds like good advice. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the Klipsch RW-12's that are $299 shipped on newegg.com ($600 total). I've moved from a 10" sub to a 12" and now 15" lol. I'm assuming one sub will be good enough for now. I have one vote for a PSA and one for a Rythmik. I guess a bit more research is gonna be needed.

I just noticed you are in Canada.. That will add a lot to the costs I suspect for PSA, Hsu, Rythmik, etc.

I would put this one at the top of your list:

Could I not just get the PSA or HSU subs shipped to a P.O. Box over the border and pick it up? I've already started my research on the three subs. Unless you think the Sonicboom one is better.

I am not sure if they ship to a PO Box (actually I am pretty sure they won't per Fedex/UPS policy), but if they can, then yes go that route. The Sonicboom website carries SVS subwoofers which are on par or better than PSA or HSU. They just cost more for what you get.

Thanks again for your reply. Would you please let me know which sub you'd recommend for me from sonicboom? I'm looking an eventual two sub set up. I have an Amerifriend that I might be able to ship to so I think I'm just going to go with the better choice. At the end of the day, which sub would you recommend for my system? Thanks in advance.

If you can ship a sub to a friend in the States then I still think the PSA sub is the best deal out there right now for the price. I personally own an Hsu VTF-15H and love it too, but it is about $280 more shipped for similar performance.

Honestly, can't go wrong with any of them and two PB-12 NSD subs from Sonicboom would be excellent.

One more thing. Being in Canada, buying from Sonicboom will give you peace of mind if there is an issue. Look at their warranty, it is top notch. With the other brands you would have to drive back over the border, ship it, and then drive back over the border when it is returned if there was an issue.
