This just in today from our local ABC affiliate:
""" Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know I am replacing my transmission line on
the 72nd street tower. This is to get ready for HDTV. The reason the line
must be replaced is the current line will not handle the combined power of
the channel 7 transmitter, and the channel 20 transmitter.
We are currently broadcasting on our aux transmitter located at the studio.
We will be on that transmitter for at least 10 days, maybe longer if the
weather does not hold.
More to come.
Thanks
Warren Behrens
Chief Engineer KETV """
So with any luck, ABC could begin broadcasting 720P here in a few weeks. However, I'm not holding my breath (it's raining outside!) As long as it's online in time for some HD Football (Superbowl Party) I'll be happy. How about the Indy 500 in HD. ABC are you listening?
A local NBC spokesperson stated in July that they would begin transmission on 1 August. Apparently something has gone astray because their latest statements early-August indicate their pushing their schedule much farther to the right, into early 2003.

CBS's current line is November.
Stroker,
Glad to see you popped for a COX capable HD STB. I've heard rumors that COX will be switching over soon to the SA3100, I hope their future programming scheme will remain compatible with your current GI setup.
I'm a DISH customer. I receive HBO, SHO, PPV, DiscoveryHD and CBS (motorhome waiver) via Echostars 61.5 bird. I've been champing at the bit for several years now to receive HD OTA. Receiving CBS-HD from NY channel 2 is nice but I'll know HD has finally arrived when I can view our local CBS news crews in HD. That plus the east coast time shift is irritating, programs are on before were through eating dinner.
Welcome to the HD club of Omaha. There aren't many of us now, but I know the Furniture Mart has sold plenty of HD monitors. Come on locals.
I'll post more when I know more....
