That's great news! I just got my first HDTV and was a little dissapointed in the selection of HDTV channels as compared to the number available elsewhere.

Good news,

Now that KETV Analog 7 has stopped its Analog night life broadcast (the one telling everyone how to switch).

I can get KLKN ABC Digital 8 in Papillion (thats just sought of Omaha on 66th street).
Singal gets a little weak from 11am to 6pm during the heat of the day. Rest of the time its in the 60's on my meter.

KOLN CBS Digital 10 comes in even better in the 70's as they are broad casting with a little more power than channel 8.

Now we just need the new FOX Digital 51 in northern Lincoln, Ne to go full power (last info said this fall as they filled a delay with the FCC).

I did find that the Channel Master 777 amp makes things worse for VHF High. I am using a normal Amp now, only at the TV.

I am using a AntennaCraft Y10 like Husker Mike. Even though it says its only for VHF High, it pulls in my UHF just as good as any of my UHF only Antennas.
Its in the Attic.

Yeah, we also need it to start acting like a "real" station. So far, it still shows Fox 4/17 on their spots only. If they're serious about turning it into a "real" station instead of just a translator (like they've had here for years), they're going to have to get on the ball... Right now, I can get 42 OTA better than I get 51, and the transmitter for 51 is only 2.5 miles from my house...

And, of course, you can't forget that they also aren't broadcasting in HD on 51 yet, either...

KMTV 3 now advertising and showing there news in 16x9 full digital.

Its not HD, but it looks so good to me, I cant tell its not all HD

Good job channel 3.

Now you can start working on a digital subchannel 3.2 how about adding retro TV or a 24x7 local news channel for us with out Cox's News on 4 or something else?
considering KMTV is third or fourth in news I don't see them adding a 24 news channel.

Or better yet, how about a local independent station that might provide a new home to The Bonnie Hunt Show and other syndies that may not otherwise get seen in Omaha this fall.

Just do what Cox cable does; replay the last news broadcast on an infinite loop until the next broadcast. No additional programming costs; you already produce it, you just DVR it and replay it over and over and over and over again.

I sure am liking Retro TV on Lincolns Channel 8.2 digital sub.

We need it here in Omaha. Either on 3.2 or to replace whats on 6.2 that I never watch (sports re runs?).

I doubt that Pappas intends for 51 to be a full local station. My guess is it's just there to preserve the rights to Fox in Lincoln, to keep 10/11 from being able to take the affiliation. In reality 42 is the local affiliate for Lincoln, with "local" ads and news, and having more local content on 51 would take away from 42's viewership in Lincoln, weakening its position. This was likely a factor in dropping CW, as 51 may have been affecting Lincoln viewership of 15, already Omaha's least-viewed full power station. Getting 15 carried as the designated local CW affiliate on DirecTV for the Lincoln market has surely been a boost to that station.

Between 42 and 51, while 42 still is pretty clearly a low-budget operation, they still have a lot more going for them than 51 does. 51 just keeps the Lincoln Fox affiliation with Pappas while 42 seems to be what they intend most viewers watch (despite claims that 51 would put 4/17/51 in a better position to increase Lincoln viewership). Thus 51 only has to cover a minimal area so as to say they are providing a service to the community of license, and 42 can blanket the Lincoln area with more local info and the Fox HD signal.

So apparently KPTMDT2 is going with ThisTV now instead of AmericaOne to fill the 22 hours a day that MNTV isn't providing programming... ?

I'm sure you're right about all of that. Of course, that doesn't make it right, but that's the way business works sometimes... It wouldn't be quite so bad if they'd at least broadcast in HD on 51...

I still really wish KOLN had been able to grab Fox for 10.2, especially with Pappas in bankruptcy. Maybe we'll still get lucky if KOLN could convince Fox of how much more coverage they'd have on their "network" of transmitters across the state than just on 4/17/51. Darn that would be sad... :-P

Did anyone catch KPTMDT2 between 7 and 9 this evening to see if they switched to MyNetwork TV programming or if they have become a full-time ThisTV affiliate?

Since it's after 9 PM they're again identifying as "this OMAHA" though promos during commercial breaks still show up as "my42.2". I wasn't in front of a TV between 7 and 9 to be able to see, though the Cox on-screen guide shows the MyNetwork TV movie from 7-9 with the ThisTV lineup before and after.

KPTM/42.2 (Omaha) has replaced AmericaOne with ThisTV, and continues to air "My Network TV" programming from 7-9 p.m.

It had carried AmericaOne during MNT's off hours since launching in 2006.

The station is owned by Pappas Telecasting, which recently made the same move at its Des Moines affiliate (KDMI). However, Pappas' KPTH/44.2 (Sioux City, IA) is apparently still carrying AmericaOne and MNT. (7/31/2009)

I am so sick of the 2008 olympics channel. I wish 620 was back to what it used to be. a independent channel that aired 90's tv shows and canadian dramas on the weekends.

at least with the cw dissolving the sunday lineup, maybe some syndicated shows will air on the weekends instead of at 3 am on ketv or kmtv.

on a side note: I am hoping Cheaters airs on KXVO or KPTM finally.

still baffled as to why Omaha Nebraska has never aired the show.

additional channels to be added to time warner in HD (although no specific start date listed): CBS College Sports, Speed, Food Network, Travel Channel, Disney XD, Biography, AMC, Lifetime Movie Network, Fox Business, and The Weather Channel. PPV Events HD also was also listed in the "inDemand" section...don't know if this is on-demand events or actual live events
post #7611 of 9408
I have now taken 6.2 OFF of my guide menu. I just never watch Olympics reruns or any of the other old sports they show.

If they ever do change, could someone please update this forums so I will know to add it back to my guide data list.

I know it's not the most popular thing for a lot of people... personally, I'm not big on the Olympic sports either. That's why I pay for ESPN, MLB Network, NFL Network, etc. Though I do know of a few people who say that 6.2 is their favorite channel available over-the-air, so obviously they do still have a fan base.

Is this in addition to the ones you mentioned a couple weeks ago, or are these instead of the other ones. Hoping it's in addition to them. Having 20 or so more HD channels would be great!

I will let you know.

I think News for you could be put on 6.3. I know other cities have multiple sub-channels.

PBS and ION and TBN all have multiple sub-channels, as does some ethinc or shopping themed broadcast stations in bigger cities.

BTW:

I suspect with This TV and MNTV being on channel 42.2 ,sooner or later

anyone think KKAZ channel 24 will end up becoming a Telemundo or a Univision station down the line or some other channel
post #7617 of 9408
look what I found on youtube. anyone remember this? I loved that promo for KXVo when it first started back in 95.

Highly unlikely to no chance at all, as Pappas owns part of the Azteca America network as well as their own TuVision brand. I would guess that no Pappas station will ever carry a competing network such as Telemundo or Univision.

Wasn't in Omaha, but I remember when the WB and Pappas both had their "mojo working." Happier times for them...Mr. McCall wants his CW back.

i believe you are right. but I wish they would do something with KKAZ other than it being a re-airing on 42.2. maybe turn into a RTN station

since i am doubtful that KMTV will have a RTN station of channel 3.2
