Takes a bit to populate the channels after they are activated and the premiums take longer than the other channels. I had to wait a couple hours between my first and second call to make sure all the channels populated. The third call solved my issues with the plus packs not showing up.

should we have them do both cards on one call or make sure ones working before we do the second tivo?

sounds like Omaha had problems with DIYHD

I only have one Tivo and it took 3 attempts over 2 days to get mine to work with all channels including plus pack and minus the DIYHD weirdness.

I guess I would try to gauge the knowledge of the tech if you can. If they're quick to want to roll a truck if a snafu happens then you have someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Try to pair them both on one call. You may not get all channels right away which they say is normal. If you have to call back a second time focus only on one box - if you get a tech less than knowledgeable you'll know pretty quick and can end the call, wait an hour and call back and try with another one. Once you get a knowledgeable tech you should get through both boxes quickly.

Thanks for checking. Looks like I need to call out Cox to check the signal strength on the line going into my house. Either that or its the cable card.

Moderators Note:

It's been observed that many of the recent discussions center around cable provider Cox. Is there any interest in my creating a separate Cox topic for this area and splitting it off from this topic? Or should things remain as is?
Ken how are the other local forums separated? Do they have separate areas for each provider, or are they like Omaha's right now?

I would vote for keep it the same unless other areas are separate cable and OTA

I vote to split the Cox/Omaha discussion into a separate thread.

Over time we've added any number of specific topics for the various local areas, based on demand. Take a look at the US Thread Index to see what is possible: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1269188/united-states-thread-index-find-your-local-discussion-thread-here

Having said that, Omaha / Lincoln is the 76th largest TV market. Between the 76th slot and the 30th slot, there are only 4 markets with more than one topic. Even markets as large as Dallas (#5) and Detroit (#11) only have one topic.

If there is enough local interest, another Cox specific topic can be added. What say ye?

if it is split will all the cox posts in here move to the Cox Omaha thread, or will it start fresh?

Has any one with a tivo on cox noticed tivo sent out a lineup change channel 19 went from TV guide to zap2it, but it's still airing TV guide programming?
I vote to create a separate Omaha Cox HDTV thread.
My vote is we should keep this thread as is.
There is a lot of history here and most do not have time to search or read many threads.
Looking at the thread count, it is way to low to justify splitting it.

If anything we could change the title to "Omaha / Lincoln, NP, NE - TV" take out the HD so anything TV related to Nebraska is covered. All 3 DMA are covered Omaha, Lincoln/Kearney, and NP.

Why does KMTV run commercials at the end of the Letterman show that replace most of the musical guest performance? It happened 6/14 recently.

I did now. I never hold much faith in web-listed contact addresses and many seem to get routed to the ignore bin.

Time Warner Cable has dropped KPTM HD in favor of KFXL HD in Lincoln, Crete, David City, Fairbury, Seward and York as of 6/27.

considering it's a lincoln station smart move no need for 2 Fox stations
post #9148 of 9405
KFXL must be enforcing there DMA market rights. Per FCC rules a SAT or cable cant not broadcast an other Network station from an out side DMA if there already is a station legally listed for that DMA (Lincoln-GI-Kearney). Where Fox 42 is listed as the Omaha DMA.

Now that KFXL is in HD, they can require this.

I wonder if there also getting close to switching to channel 15 (will still be listed as 51 in the remap) AND increasing power to FULL POWER so others can watch it?
Any one heard anything? Its been some time since the FCC oked it.

In other news, DIsh now has the Hopper which can automatically take out commercial from Prime Time Recorders. I wonder if Cox will add this feature? Of course Dish has law suite now over this.

What's the lawsuit about? I don't think Cox will do anything they can't even launch Ondemand via Tivo.

Dish has a technology in their new DVRs (which I have and it's really nice) where, for recorded network programming, it automatically plays back the show without commercials.  Networks have sued Dish claiming the automatic skipping of commercials violates their agreements and undermines compensation for the programming.
