As I said above... though if Gray takes over the station, the logo probably just changes to the existing MyTV branding or a new "MyTV 4 HD".

The University of Nebraska has no trademark on:
1. The color red,
2. The letter "N",
3. or the combination thereof in a bold serif font.

Unlike the NBC "N" from the 1970s, which was a unique geometric shape, I don't think the U would have a legit case here. The N logo on the screen cap is not the same as the trademarked "Iron N" the University Athletic Department uses.

Check out this on Trademarked Lettering by UNL; http://www.huskersnside.com/pdf2/41291.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=100

The N looks the same except for hue of red and the horizontal stretch. Looks like a case for infringement could be made.

The real difficult one to get around is that they have a trademark on "Nebraska"®

I wonder how my nephews tell people they are in (that state south of South Dakota and north of Kansas)?

Wouldn't that be illegal and unstubstancial as you can't trademark a state name!

I am sure they are using the N log as they are near bankrupt. That why there selling. They know NU wont come after them as they have no money to get, besides the new owners are for sure changing the network name and log. They are not going to spend a million and keep that 3ABN religion channel on.
Anyone know what the delay is on KFXL Fox in Full power the FCC said they could increase last March? Now one around Lincoln and pick it up as its so low power. This new KSNB channel will have more power one it goes up.

So, if that's the case, we may not see them at "full power" for a while... Of course, at least they're in HD now finally. smile.gif

This is the last thing I heard, as of September.

Antenna TV has announced on their Facebook page that they are on KSNB 4-2, which wouldn't be unprecedented for Gray, but it seems a bit soon since the sale has yet to close. Anyone seeing anything yet on K18CD (or, if you're really lucky, over the air on 4)?

This is good news. Antenna TV is a FREE good channel.
Its now on there web site.

http://www.antennatv.tv/

'"Classic TV fans in Nebraska can now find Antenna TV over-the-air on KNSB 4.2 in the Lincoln/Hastings/Kearney areas. Please share the good new with your Nebraskan friends."

Did I mention it is free?

When is KNSB going full power so we can actually watch it?

===More Info==
Antenna TV is owned and operated by Tribune Broadcasting and originates from facilities at WGN-TV in Chicago.

KFXL what are you going to get for your Sub channel, all the good ones are going fast. TUFF TV and PBJ TV are still left. I wish we could watch that channel also but it is still low power.

Pappas probably has no resources to add any additional programming contracts.  They have subchannels in areas where they have both the ABC and Fox affiliations in NE (Kearney, Hayes Center, McCook, and O'Neill), but in North Platte, KHGI-CD only airs ABC due to KNOP's Fox subchannel, and in Lincoln KFXL only airs Fox due to KLKN.  I'm guessing neither get subchannels anytime soon...

too bad Omaha cant ger KSNB (or any Lincoln tv station). I wish Omaha could get Antenna TV.

prefer it over a weather channel or Live Well Network. Like meTv, but sucks Omaha dont get Antenna TV

(btw, maybe Cox Cable of Omaha should air KOLN or KLKN on it's digital lineup.

speaking of 3abn: anyone heard anything new on K25MM-D aka Omaha's 3abn network?
From South Central Omaha I get both Lincolns ABS and CBS just fine with an Attic VHF Ant on my Dish Network Hopper Receiver.
WIsh the Lincoln Fox would go full power, The FCC said they could back in April.
Looks like KSNB beat the Omaha stations for one of the last really good sub channels.
It is called Antenna TV They now list channel 4.2 as one of there stations.
I do not know if its up yet as the station is so lower power that no one can watch it. Anyone know when there going Full power? The FCC said they could.
Maybe WOWT channel 6 could add it, the weather is getting old. Or how about KMTV, I really do not like the Live Well channel.
Remember it is normal to try for cheap low priced sub channels as they often do not make much profit on ad dollars. That is why we are seeing a trend of channels that show re runs like cables TV Land.
Any update on KFXL? Its still low power also, few can watch it.

scott, i have asked and kmtv and wowt isnt intrested in adding

antenna tv or cool tv or Tuff TV

or bounce tv http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bounce_TV

or PBJ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBJ_(TV_network)

or Cozi TV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cozi_TV (which is a nbc sub-channel)

which is too bad cause i would think kmtv and wowt would want a good subchannel/competition with KETV 's 7.2

I too am sick of Live Well Network and the Weather Channel.

too bad btw KOHA 48.1 cant pick up PBJ as a sub-channel. I think they would likely pick up PBJ (out of any station in Omaha)

I say that cause a Daystar station in Tenn. airs PBJ as a sub-channel (see) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRTN-LP

I don't get KSNB; do they actually use Ch. 4 or are they on some UHF channel with 4 being a PISP?
KSNB in a way is really new, they just moved between Lincoln and GI, near York. They used to have a tower somewhere else.
They are not yet full power. I called and they said they could not talk about it as there is a pending sale.
The signal maps show they almost get to Papillion NE, maybe south Omaha

Their primary transmitter, if it is in fact on the air (and I've heard reports that it is) actually transmits on RF channel 4 (66-72 MHz, 4 meters) from near York. I've also heard references to a UHF translator closer to Lincoln.

They used to transmit on channel 4 from a site near Superior literally a few feet from the Kansas line. They had been transmitting from that site on analog channel 4 before the transition. The transition has vastly changed the lowband landscape, with so few stations, the ones remaining are often easier to receive, and the lowband (2-6) channels are uniquely affected by a phenomenon called "Sporadic-E skip". I've seen KSNB in both analog and digital in Michigan. I've seen KNOP in North Platte several times.

Hey Scott, what number did you call them at? Thanks!

Here is a long write up on KSNB, not sure if its true. Still interesting.
Its at the the very bottom as a comment.

Also here is a link that lists all of the KSNB translators near Lincoln

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/63785/station-trading-roundup-2-deals-355m

Still no news on KFLX going full power.

KSNB is now airing Antenna TV on both 4.1 and 4.2. Screengrab from a couple hours ago...

 1000

Assuming everything goes through, Gray should keep channel 18 as a full repeater of KSNB in Lincoln as otherwise the channel 4 signal isn't going to be watchable indoors in or around Lincoln.  Gray should also convert channel 35 to digital and make it be a repeater for KOLN so CBS will finally be viewable indoors again.  CBS and MyTV SD on 10.1 and 10.2, MyTV HD and Antenna TV on 4.1/18.1 and 4.2/18.2, and CBS on 35.1.  (I know some may say keeping MyTV in SD on 10.2 is redundant, but there are quite a few areas that can get 10 but won't be able to receive either 4 or 18.)

Not everything in the links is true. The comment is largely speculation, and KSNB was never a satellite of any Omaha station. It rebroadcast ABC and then Fox out of the Tri-Cities.

Joel, where were you when you got this screengrab? Is it off 4.2 or one of the translators in Lincoln? Thanks!

I was in north Lincoln and this was via K18CD. However, KSNB 4.1 and 4.2 is showing up in HDHomeRun logs in Grand Island, Hastings, York, and occasionally Lincoln. It's on, but just very hard to get on RF 4. I don't remember if this was 18.1 or 18.2 but they are identical.

Some perspective on low VHF... using a portable antenna (I have a monopole antenna, and a "Leaf" flat panel) I have had difficulty getting KNOP in downtown North Platte. That's within 3 miles of the transmitter. When KNOP was on channel 22, I got it on a small flat-panel antenna just outside of Ogallala.  KHAS, barely even a blip on the signal meter in Kearney, and showing up on the tuner but unwatchable in Grand Island. 60% signal in Giltner, breaking up a lot but at least viewable.  That's how hard it is to get VHF-low stations without an attic or rooftop VHF antenna.

Also, KWAZ-LP (analog) is transmitting again, but at just a couple blocks from the transmitter, the best picture I could receive was fuzzy and usually black and white. The signal literally barely even gets off the tower.

On my Directv programming guide, the program schedule has changed to match the schedule of Antenna TV. Before it mirrored KFXL's listings. It has Antenna TV's schedule on 4-1 and no 4-2 schedule.

Anybody know where the master control is for KSNB? Is it in Lincoln?

Too bad K18CD isn't showing the AntennaTV schedule yet on DirecTV. Unfortunately I'm not picking up 4.1 yet, but can get K18CD. Maybe 4.1 isn't at full power yet?

it's too bad if cox cable in omaha can air KOLN and KLKN and cox wont add them.

i know time warner cable airs both omaha and lincoln 's cbs and abc stations.

it should only be fair if omaha 's cox cable aired KOLN and KLKN (since Lincoln gets Omaha 's cbs/abc stations)

I mean: KOLN could air on Cox channel 111 and KLKN could air on Cox Channel 112 (or on channels 127 and 128 which are both blank)

It's official. CenturyLink is now replacing the old TeleChoice service and bringing Prism to Omaha. Work is already underway in west Omaha to bury new fiber optic lines, and the new service will begin to roll out in 2013. The old TeleChoice service will be discontinued in 2014.

http://faq.tconl.com/NEW/

They are burying all new fiber optic cables to provide additional bandwidth for internet and television service.
