On a related note, I wonder if Citadel might consider making a play for KFXL/KTVG now? KOLN has already "broken" the duopoly issue with the FCC in the Lincoln market, so it could be a quick way to build a statewide network for not a lot of money... Just my $0.02...

Prism is in the house! 1st impression is very good. biggrin.gif

Install tech was very patient with me and how I wanted things setup. Kept existing router + ext. Used HPNA from the util room to the router to accommodate home office (ethernet dev). Getting a solid 40+ download and 20 up!

4 cable boxes...3 small portable boxes+1hardwired. All TVs connected via HDMI (tech replaced old comp cables!)

Going to have to mow around the fiber cable for the next week however i have no issues with that. Downloaded Prism TV app however it takes 24 hours before it will work due to CL pre-reqs.

Overall I am extremely pleased that (A) we now have a choice for service provider other than COX, (B) that the system works as well as it does, and (C) I am paying less and getting more. FWIW when I dropped my cablebox off @ Cox in VPointe I noticed several other individuals doing the same.

Prism: Is there a brand and model number on the box they use? I would like to check out the specs on it.
Edit: Thanks for the info below, interesting stuff!

Ya, they (at least some) popped up on my guide in Windows Media Center a couple of weeks ago. I did see listings on some of them for soccer. I just removed them from the guide.

The NFL Network will remain on the Sports & Info Pak as well as being on the Sports Pak 2.

So we pay for NFL network twice?
DirecTV and KLKN are having a disagreement over carriage fees. According to ads on both sources, the drop dead date is 10/15. Let's hope they both can come to their senses, but I'm glad I have an antenna at least...

Is Cox going to make having the whole home dvr a requirement like they did for the plus pack?

Anyone in Omaha tried the New Prism system from Century Link, Their pushing to replace my Direct, Is quality there? Thank's.
An other question on Century Link Prism. I heard from friends in other cities that there issues with this system since it is all coming over TCPIP (the internet).

Reports- if you have showing or recording 4 HDTV channels at the same time AND are surfing the web the channels start to show blocks because it is all coming over the internet and it is limited.
Anyone test this in Omaha yet. If you dont have 4 TVs just record 3 HDTV shows and watch a 4th one, then go and watch Youtube or some video on the web on your PC, do the channels start to block out?
Others in that market say if you dont have Fiber ran to the house it is even worse, only 2 HD SHOWS and the internet on a PC before it shows little square blocks on the channel.

What is everyone seeing in Omaha, how is it? Do you have Fiber ran to your house? If you dont know the way to tell is did the dig up your yard to a fiber optic line when you first got it?

Omaha Channel 42.2 and 15.2 seem to be playing the same thing a lot lately- THIS TV Network.
Before 15.2 was a Spanish only channel.
I thought I read either 42 or 15 was sold to someone.
Is 15.2 going to change? Should would be good to get Antenna TV, Retro TV, or some kind of Guy channel instead of Spanish which is already on an other channel.
Anyone hear anything?
anyone noticed THIS TV is on both 42.2 and 15.2 now

since Azteca America is gone, I wonder if one of those channels will become

Antenna TV http://antennatv.tv/ or Bounce TV http://www.bouncetv.com/

or Cozi TV http://www.cozitv.com/ or Mundo Fox http://www.mundofox.com/

since This TV is on 2 broadcast channels at the moment.

anyone know what the story is with THIS TV being on 2 channels at the moment.

havent heard anything, but asked that myself.

Retro TV is more or less done for as a channel. lot of Retro TV stations have become Antenna TV or MeTV stations in last few years.

my bet is either Antenna TV or Bounce TV http://www.bouncetv.com/ or Cozi TV http://www.cozitv.com/ will take one of those 2 channels spots down the line.

Tuff TV is not likely cause it is owned by Luken Communications. and Luken tends to air their stations together (PBJ and Tuff TV and TNN)

Cozi TV http://www.cozitv.com/shows/weekday/ has MAGNUM PI and 6 Million Dollar Man (and coming soon: Fantasy Island and One Step Beyond

Antenna TV airs WKRP and Different Strokes and Bewitched and Married with Children and Benson and All in the Family and Barney Miller

Bounce TV airs movies and re-runs of Fat Albert

15.2 probably lost the rights to Azteca America with the purchase of KPTM by Sinclair and thus the operations of KXVO also going to Sinclair.  Sinclair is probably in the process of negotiating a new programming source for either 15.2 or 42.2 and duplicating in the meantime.  Is Estrella TV still on 42.3?

KMTV is showing on their website that they are now in HD. I haven't been in Omaha since August, so is KETV now the only station in Omaha not doing news in HD or have they made the switch as well?

The weird thing is KMEG 14 out of Sioux City still has Azteca America. I would think if that is true, they would be doing that on KMEG unless that is a different agreement.

Movies! I highly doubt. we already got This TV

we already got a weather channel on 6.2

Heartland TV network aka TNN is a long shot. I would prefer cool tv again in Omaha. though cozi tv has only a few stations now.

My Family Net I highly doubt will replace it. too unknown of a channel. same with PBJ http://www.watchpbj.com

I think KXVO or KPTM will likely go for Antenna TV or Bounce TV or Cozi TV. They would be the ones that would bring in a audience.

plus Cozi TV and Antenna TV would be competition for MeTV on 7.2

has Antenna TV 's fall schedule (if anyone wanted to know)

According to a post on their Facebook page, KHAS is going HD for local news. They're already showing new HD weather graphics on their webpage and they look pretty sharp. With KNOP also going HD, all stations in the Lincoln and North Platte markets will have HD news (Edit: Is KFXL Nightly in HD? Should be with KHGI going HD but I haven't actually confirmed KFXL Nightly yet).

In addition, I believe KSNK in McCook is HD (via KSNW in Wichita) and KDUH is in HD as well.  Not counting KSTF in Scottsbluff, which is SD but programmed out of Cheyenne, that will leave KETV as the only Nebraska news operation not broadcasting in HD unless something has changed since I last saw their signal in August. Surprising. Never thought that small stations in central and western Nebraska would have HD newscasts ahead of the most-watched station (or second-most-watched) in Omaha.

then the question becomes will Cox carry it? As far as I can see Cox only broadcasts This TV on one channel not two, so which version do Cox customers get?

*Falls over and faints*

Also, I think KFXL is in HD, but won't state it with absolute certainty.

KETV really looks bad in comparison now when you switch between channels.

KFXL's News @ 9 pm is in HD as is sister station NTV's News on all shows. Both station's newscasts are produced in the same studio.

KHAS has dropped ThisTV and picked up Cozi on 5-2 (per a post elsewhere)

If you dont know ThisTV switched owners (From Weigel...who owns MeTV) to Tribune on 11/1. Tribune scrambled the source feed so some smaller affiliates have changed their feed to MeTV, Movies! (both owned by Weigel) or CoziTV (those 3 are all in the clear on big dish)
