You might find some guys on the REW thread very interested.....
As you might remember I had tentatively thought about building a dedicated PC to feed live input into a Dirac solution, and then output via some sort of DAC to an amp, but after gaming all the steps, I decided it was far more work than I really wanted to do as an A/V pioneer...by the time I was done I might as well save my $$$ for an MC-8 or something, or wait for Carl Huff to get his solution out. Or just plain old see what Emotiva is going to do with their XMC-1.
Having said that, I'm testing out the somewhat cludgy approach of a Frakenprocessor, leveraging an Oppo 103 and the Sherwood R-972 to be a poor person's version of Trinnov without all as few limitations as I can manage. Not nearly as good as SOTA Trinnov, but if you don't mind a 40 lb. dedicated processor feeding into an amp or EXT. IN, I'm seeing what that gets me vs. XT32. I just have to find the time to pursue it in depth while dealing with having a three-week-old @ home.
Still, I find this thread a great read, simply to see what IS possible.
