Rythmik FV15HP VS SVS PB12 plus

I need some help. I think I have it down to these 2 subs and I want to stay in the $1400 price range.

My theater is about 4500 cubic feet. We use the theater mostly for movies as we have a sperate audio room. I have a JL F112 that I going to move to my audio room. But I'm looking for more low bass and a bit more output but I don't want just output. I heard some subs that just boom like crazy. I want quality or my wife and kids will always tell me to turn it down. I like rumble just not boom.

Subs I've owned in the past were.
Velodyne DD15. Average
Earthquake 15". Awful
Definitive super cube reference. Average at best
JL audio F112. Great for audio. Very fast. Cuts off hard at 27hz in my room
Kharma. Best I've ever heard but never heard it with movies
Revel. Not bad.

Any help would be great.

Check out my thread I just posted last week. I was trying to decide between these two subs last week. FWIW I ended up going with the Rythmik because all of the claims that I would be getting the output that compares more to the SVS PB13 ultra for about $600 less. I ordered mine on Friday and should be getting this Thursday so unfortunately I cannot give you any impressions just yet.

I do understand that the Rythmik does give a bit more output but is it at the cost of bass quality? I know a lot of manufacture don't use 15 inch woofer because they can be slow. I saw where Audioholics gave the SVS a higher rating even though the Rythmik had more output. But they don't explain why they did.

The sound quality of the Rythmik will not be inferior to that of the PB12 Plus, if anything it will be better. The issues Audioholics had was some limiter misbehavior, and the Rythmik's vinyl finish was not as nice looking as the SVS. Between the two I would definitely swing for the Rythmik sub.

1st of all the fv15hp needs to be compared to the pb13u,and not the 12.

I was comparing them price wise not output wise. If you read the my first post it says $1400 price range.

I ordered the Rythmik FV15HP today so I will be able to compare them directly. I'll post pictures.

I knew what you meant. All I was doing was letting you know you can get PB13 quality at PB12 prices by going with the Rythmik. So I have heard anyway.

I thought I'd chime in on this because I have owned the Rythmik FV15HP for about a year now.

My intent was to upgrade from a Paradigm Seismic 12 (class D amp), which was a very good subwoofer, but the Rythmik is in another class and simply blows away the Paradigm.
The Rythmik is a direct-servo design and it's very good with music & fantasic with home theater movies.

The bass extension can get incredibly low, powerful, clean and fast despite the large 15 inch woofer. It must have to do with the direct-servo design and quality of the amplifier in this sub. As per the great review of this sub in Audioholics, this appears to be a fine engineered well-designed subwoofer with massive output of quality bass with deep low extension.

I can attest to its sound quality in my 5.1 channel surround sound system up in my dedicated home theater. The Rythmik's deep low extension & impact of movie soundtracks has taken my home theater experience to whole new/higher higher level. It's teamed up with two PSB Platinum T6 towers, PSB Platinum C4 center channel and Paradigm Reference Studio ADP 470 v.3 surrounds. My theater room is 32 feet long by 15 feet wide and the bass impact this subwoofer can achieve is awesome.

I also considered the comparably priced SVS PB12-Plus but decided to purchase the Rythmik instead and I have absolutely no regrets. Also note it's dead silent/quiet with no ground loop "hum" noise that can occur in some subs with class D amps. The Rythmik does not use a class D amp; instead it has a 600 RMS class H amplfier and it's direct servo design may have something to do with it's quiet, efficiency and powerful output.

The Rytmik is a great well-designed product; you will not be disappointed with this sub. It will rattle the walls in your house.. no doubt this sub is very impressive and certainly has that WOW factor!
Good luck in your choice.
