Video Card for HTPC

Thread Starter
So I don't want to waste anyone's time, including my own =)

I have an HTPC that's about 4 years old. Other than graphics everything is up to date

Has a HD4700 card that's great, but HDMI is not HDCP Ready so I am using the DVI > HDMI
Also, no 3D support

What video card do you recommend?
- One HDMI port (Don't care about the rest)
- Fanless or Super quiet fan
- No gaming at all
- HDCP Compliant
- 3D Bllu-Ray Ready
- $50-$100
- No overkill or not underpowered
- No preference between ATI and NVIDIA

Just looking for solid picture quality for XBMC\Ceton\BluRay 3D

If there are similar posts, please post links. No unnecessary questions. I just want simple answers =)

Thank you in advance,

ME

Do you use a HDMI 1.4a AVR?

You should list your current motherboard and CPU to help us.

If you wanted good power:

I would say any 6000 series RADEON under $45 is a good low end choice. I linked a silent model in my first link.

Stepping up but inside your budget a 6670 would give you more power. Do you need it ? If so check out second link.

Best choice under $100 is the 7750 like the XFX card I linked third. (I don't how quiet it is)

No, I have an older Bose LifeStyle 38 system. I will not be using the HDMI for sound, just video

I am at the office so I don't have the specs infront of me. If my memory serves me right I believe the MB is GA-EP45-UD3P (rev. 1.6) and CPU is Intel® Core2 Quad Processor Q9550

Thanks Mfusick

I saw the HIS card previous as well. What do you think about it vs this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102950

Thanks!

That looks good if your case is large enough. HIS IceQ HD 6570 is good enough for all 2D/3D video playback tasks and will fit every normal HTPC case.

Yeah, Huge LianLi Case. Will do more research on these two

Any issues with fanless?

Thanks!

I almost linked that card.

It's a fine choice.

Not for non overclocking or simple movie playback. Nope.

perhaps runs a bit hotter but not a problem in a proper case.
