From what I've read, GDT intended for this movie to be fun. For me, that's what it was. Not a brooding piece like TDK or MOS. Sure, a couple of the scenes had some head shaking moments, but nothing I thought was any worse than in HB or HBII.Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Example, why didn't Liz just melt down the piece of the crown from the beginning. Could have saved a lot of trouble. (Disclaimer - It's been a while since I've seen this one, but I think this is accurate)
The answer, it would have made the movie too short, and uninteresting. Is that poor writing? I suppose is it, but that movie was still enjoyable enough.
Plot holes generally don't bother me, and I didn't feel the overall "writing" was bad. Better than a lot of movies I've seen.
Anyway, to each his own. I personally hope the movie does well over seas and we can get the sequel GDT has already been discussing.
