Projecting onto ceiling

I need to project something onto my ceiling. I've been researching these past couple of days & I'm pretty desperate at this point.


I understand you can't point projectors upward because of the heat, so forgive me if this sounds dumb, but would it be okay I faced the projector upward then just pointed a fan towards it? If not, is there another way I can go about this without having to get a first surface mirror?

If not though, and I do manage to get my hands on an fs mirror, how do I set it up? Does the mirror need to be a certain size if I want to get as big & clear a projection as possible?

Front Surface mirrors follow the rule that the angle of reflection is the same as the angle of incidence. That pretty well dictates how you set them up.

I can see the thermal issue - if stood on its tail, there is some heat from the lamp that is going to go straight up into the lens, etc. that usually does not go there.
