Picking Up a s3 this late in the game?

I've been thinking about picking up a Ps3, perhaps one of the holiday bundles, now I know the PS4 is due next year, but I probably would'nt be picking up that system for a year or so after launch I know initial launches of Software for new system is slow and I want to see who has the momentum in the next gen, so is it worth paying $300 for the system now? Or would you guys suggest I pick up a used unit? I figure software deals on the system will pick up as well. Opinions?

It's too bad you missed out on the Black Friday bundles, I think they were $199 with both Infamous and the Uncharted collection or something to that effect. Personally I think now has never been a better time to get a PS3, the library is fully fleshed out and you can get some really great games( a few years old) for really cheap. Since you say you don't buy a console at launch anyway, why not?

Mainly Price, and the fact that most of the games don't utilize the sstem to its full potential.

If I go the New route would I be better off looking for a Slim vs a Superslim?

I am going to agree with Dragon. I would pick one up. There are so many awesome excolusives plus some great looking games coming out, that you will be able to stay busy for a while. I am starting to get in to the PS3 more and more because I am enjoying the exclusives.

If it's one thing I learned this time around, it's wait a few years to get into a console.

2 YLOD's, $1000 on consoles, and a very limited selection the first 18 months will have b waiting next time around (18-24 months) before I dive in.

Not going to be a (paying) beta tester again.

So sure, go for it. I have something like 1200 hours of games sitting on my coffee table, 1/2 exclusive to PS3. As long as you like a variety of genre's, there's plenty to keep you buys, and your investment sound.
