$1500 for speakers + Amp

Hello, I was looking to buy floor standing speakers and an amp. My friend recommended me two Polk LSi15 and a Emotiva XPA-200. My room is 10.5 feet by 11.6 feet and my ceiling goes up 7.83 feet. I have one window and my room is carpeted.

Good choice in speakers. I only say that because my LSi15 were delivered this morning. Great buy for $500 each off amazon. I'm running without an amp but am playing at moderate levels. An amp will be in
my future. You may want more amp than that if you really want to push the Polks. XPA-2

That's a very small room... What are your current components?

Yes it is frown.gif what do you mean by current components? Source? My source is a computer. Um, I'm more of a headphone junkie looking into getting some speakers right now. Do you think I'd be better off with bookshelves? I would MUCH rather have floorstanding ones though.
And, how far will you be sitting back from the speakers?
IF you plan on living in that small room for years the xpa-200 will be fine. If not get more amp to future proof yourself.
WOW, that's a lot of speaker for a PC. Whatever works for you. Seems like overkill but whatever floats your boat and makes you happy.
Maybe your talking HTPC. I dunno.

About 8 feet. Also just to say, I love how fast people respond to topics on here compared to Head-Fi biggrin.gif

I have a Rega RP1, though. But, that's downstairs so I won't be using that with these speakers. What is your source, Stanley?

Are you sure, that you really want towers - that is a lot of speaker.

Wow, that is an extremely nice receiver.

You're saying you want an amp. Does your computer have a decent soundcard with RCA outs to run a big outboard amp?

You can get floorstanders, you just have to be careful with really big ones in a tiny room. If the bass is overpowering, you wont have any way to change the placement. Something like these NHT's should be perfect for a room your size

Jay1 made a good recommendation.

Also, I would like something that sounds as close to natural and real as possible.

Might want to consider a receiver instead of an amp. All the extra features just give you tons of options for the future, and the auto EQ feature will give you a SQ advantage over a regular amp. Something like this.

Now would the Denon work well(be able to power them?) with Planar Magnetic headphones like the Hifiman HE-6? Thats one of the reasons I was leaning towards the Emotiva XPA-200.

Well, would you recommend towers for my room? Guys, I'm welcome to every and all recommendations. Even bookshelves if one of you think it fits my room the best.

The Definitive SM-55 is a nice option - and the bass is -3db at 44 hz
I have listened to it and it is nice.

Something like the Sierra-1 is all you need for an accurate speaker with very good bass.
