Frohlich's new home theater (his man cave and her not so man cave)

We just moved and of course I had my priorities straight and had a man cave built pronto smile.gif I still have clean up work to do including wire management. The empty space you see in the later pictures will likely end up having game tables for the kids (air hockey, foosball,etc..).

My wife also got her man cave but it was already part of the house (her pictures come last...of course).

Previous media room:

Great looking room! Am I correct in assuming another S2 would fit perfectly to the left of your center channel? biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Lke you read my mind bro smile.gif Start with an S2 and if I need/want another, I have the space for it. Literally had the contractor build it specifically with that in mind.

Amazing......what an upgrade. This is a serious room with some serious gear! Congrats.

STOP IT.... I KNOW tongue.gifsmile.gif

My wife got some of the moving budget and spent it at Pottery Barn. Need to refuel the cash tanks wink.gif

I didn't know JTR made in-wall speakers!! wink.gifsmile.gif

Seriously, I love the way you setup your surround 888's. I've wondered if I would ever upgrade to larger surrounds but I don't want to take up so much space, you've solved that problem.

Yeah, I didn't know how to mount 75lbs surround speakers so I had the contractor build those boxes and lay them into the wall so they mounted flush. I do have good ideas once in a while biggrin.gif

congrats.

It is a must for you to balance the front stage out.....you NEED to get some balance with another JTR S2 in the left space. How can you sleep at night knowing you have a HUGE gap in the front. eek.gif
Excellent space !!!

Personally I think she did good. That's a pretty cool sink and I like the island. You have almost the same table as me too.

This is what I love about AVS. When I show my friends my HT they think it is overkill...when I show it to AVS members they think I need more speakers....I fit in here better smile.gif

This is my first projector so I am a little bit of a newbie in this area. I will say that color, motion, sharpness,etc... are all excellent and I am a pretty critical viewer. The only small complaint I would have are black levels but this is likely because my last TV was a 65 Panasonic VT series plasma and their black levels are approaching KURO levels. That is a small price to pay for an image that is 4 times larger with excellent clarity and color . I am also a gamer and the lag time on the Sony is suppose to be best in class and have had not complaints to date with lag. Play a good blu ray disk and the image is truly stunning. smile.gif

Please keep in mind that is reflective of all projectors (compared to the best flat panel tvs like Panasonic VT and the old KURO). The JVC and Sony projectors are the best of the bunch this year according most reviews for black levels. So my critique isn't saying the Sony has bad black levels...just that projectors can't compete with the best Plasmas for black levels. The picture is honestly stunning to me and if it wasn't for the black bars on movies (i.e. just looking at content within the picture) the black levels and shadow detail are very good.

Hardcore enough that I don't miss a second of any football game and go see several home games a year. I am sure there are bigger nut jobs than me but you have too look pretty hard wink.gif

BTW, love your kids room. Always good to see fellow Bucknuts smile.gif

mmmh, I find it strange that nobody mentioned this yet, but you seem to be missing a S2?

Great setup. Like the sunk in surrounds. I'm assuming that the speaker pedestals are customs and so is the component rack. Very well done. It's sort of what I'm envisioning for when we move...I've already showned my wife. SHE'S the one who pointed out the "empty space" tongue.gif

cheers

Going to start a new thread about "stolen subwoofer - please help me raise cash for a new one" eek.gifsmile.gif

Yes, the speaker pedestals, speaker boxes for surrounds and component rack were all built by my contractor that finished the basement. We would shoot ideas back and forth and then settle on one we both though would work.
