It seems the trivia game is a bust. I accept full responsibility. smile.gif It must be difficult to play if you dont know the rules. So....there are no rules. The first person to answer gets my undying respect and my first born child (you can have them all if you want).
Geez....what a tough crowd! tongue.gif

Speaking of Jimmy Clark and Indy.

He started five races there, won one, finished second twice, and had two retirements. Damn.

Highlight the text you want in spoiler tags then click the "spoiler" icon. Its the sixth icon to the right of the text size dropdown box.

What are you damning about? Thats pretty incredible. eek.gif Guys that have raced there 20 times would trade a Win and 2 second places.

I like the guy but Ive always thought that his return is very unlikely. His only chance would be with a jr team if he can bring a lot of money with him.

Ultimately, Robert Kubica will become an object lesson on what NOT to do when you become an F1 driver....frown.gif

With a better car, the guy could have very easily become a World Champion...

That too! That was this year. I meant last year: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1076499_lotus-f1-tells-raikkonen-no-rally

When Raikkonen told the press he would like to compete in this year's Finnish rally, he added the caveat, "you'll have to ask the team if it fits in my contract." Lotus team chief Eric Boullier answered in definite terms, according to GMM (sub. req.): "Contractually he cannot do it. End of story."

I think it is terribly self-centered for an F1 driver to risk his safety while under contract.
There are literally hundreds of people who depend on you to be ready to go for each race and hundreds of millions of $$$ has been spent per year by most teams.

Very interesting segment on the latest episode of "Fifth Gear" regarding F1 simulators. Check it out if you can.
No idea how they arrived at this figure but they said it costs £1000 to do 1 lap of testing in an F1 car.

Finally got a chance to watch MotoGP at Circuit of the Americas (yeah, I know). Great race. Those guys are running 211mph on the straights! eek.gif Thank God they rarely wipe out on the straights. That could easily be fatal. Rookie Marquez is a beast! He may be the next Valentino Rossi.

The latest "Fifth Gear" is a must see. Segments on drifting, an attempt at the Guinness Book of World records for most Ferraris in one place eek.gif , F1 tires, the new Mercedes SL and Audi S7.

I watch the show, just to see the cars, but I really don't care for any of the hosts.

While I'm not a Honda fan,Marquez is a thrill to watch. He maybe the next Rossie, but his riding style reminded me of Kevin Schwantz

Agreed, Fifth Gear is a snore compared to its big brother.

I remember first watching TG when it aired on Speed quite a few years back. It then went off the air in the US, and was replaced by 5th Gear. I hated it. Bland, and way to serious.

But when mentioning how lame I thought 5th Gear was in discussion on some Porsche-centric forums that I follow, I was surprised that many of the participants from the UK had the opposite opinion; they hated TG, and even more so, hated Clarkson. Clarkson has a bigger presence in the UK than from TG alone, and I think that gives the folks in a UK a bigger slice of his outsized personality, which does not appear to go down very well.

In any event, I don't watch 5th Gear, or TG USA. For me, its the real deal or nothing, even if Clarkson and May do take the occasional swipe at the US. :-)

I watch 5th Gear and like the "seriousness."
I am interested in the cars, not the frivolity.
Serious sure, but the hosts are snooze-inducing. Cars are supposed to be fun toys at this level, and TG for all its wackiness embodies this way more for me.

Same reason I stopped watching the cheese-ball host on Motorweek, the 70's called and wants him back.
