Too slow, too ugly, too much like my sister's car.

You are missing out on some serious close competition (better than F-1 of which I am a big fan) with some extremely skilled drivers (Jason Plato, Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden).

+1 I have had an opportunity to meet Matt Neal (Yuassa Honda) and hope to visit a BTCC race when in England later this year. My previous 2 visits to England just did not time out with the BTCC schedule. Race Tripper - If you get to England, go to Brooklands and Mercedes World. At Mercedes World you can drive (at speed) in AMG vehicles, with an instructor, on a closed circuit for only about $140 US. I did this and it was great. This year I hope to participate in the Renault Cup Car school offered as well as attending a BTCC race.

He didn't deserve it. I was very disappointed. Alonso almost won the championship in a car that was blatantly clearly an inferior car all year. Ryan Hunter-Reay is the first American IndyCar champ for a long time and fought tooth and nail all year to get it. And they give it to the same guy that got it in 2010. Sad. It was very cool though that Alex Zanardi got the Best Performer of the Year award though.

Bond, i totally agree on Alonso, that was one of the greatest years ever for a driver, and he still might have won had not he been taken out at the start in two races through no fault of his own.
Yi. It about killed me to see him taken out that last time with like 3 races left. And then to see Vettel come in 2nd. It 'bout made me sick. He had just been up by 40 points not long ago and it had all just evaporated. Alonso handled it a lot better than I did. A real professional.

Both the Ferrari and the RB started slow, but over time each car got better.

Alonso was amazing all year.
Had he not had the bad luck of DNFs, he would have been champion.

Vettel fought back in the last half of the season.
He did what he had to do on track to win the championship.
I won't forget his being spun around and ending up at the back of the field in Brazil.
With sheer guts and determination he finished where he needed to be.
That was a champion's drive....wink.gif

True. His drive in Brazil saved him the championship.

Interesting that there is no "vanity panel".

Looks like the ugly nose is back for 2013. The vanity panel is an option and is not accounted for in the minimum weight regs. Since it weighs a few grams no one will be using it unless they can find a performance benefit from it.

Maybe I finally got used to the nose, but I like the way it looks.

Is anybody surprised that Newey didn't go for the vanity panel?

I hate hate hate PURPLE on the new Red Bull cars - i dont like purple on any car, particularly a race car. Blech.

Also, it looked better with RED BULL on the side rather than the INFINITI, but i know sponsors take precedence over looks.

But purple???? Damn.
At least its a dark purple. If it was any brighter Id be right there with ya.

They also own ALL of Infiniti. In fact its really the same company. Just like Toyota owns Lexus and Honda owns Acura. I remember when all those companies were created. It wasn't long after Datsun became Nissan.

That's what I was referring to.

Nissan needs to recoup some of its costs for supporting Renault.
After all, they are in the business of selling cars.wink.gif

"Datsun"? Ooooooh, must be, like, Ooooold. wink.gif
post #203 of 1710
These cars would look so cool without the damn sponsors stickers... wink.gif

That's the biggest reason I love Ferrari. They don't race to sell road cars. They sell road cars to race. They have been that way ever since Enzo started the company to finance his racing efforts. Ferrari is the only manufacturer to race every season since the beginning of Formula 1.

Infiniti was originally a brand just for the U.S. market, where we Americans are snobs and have to distinguish between consumer and luxury brands, even though the cars are really the same.

They knew that no one would pay 25k for a Nissan back then so they figured a back way into the market. "Lets call it an Infiniti. That sounds catchy."
