Ha, that's great. He thinks hes got it under control and then the second one pops up. Classic.

I have to admit that I did not watch the podium and only saw the still photos. Damn clever bit of engineering there, that's for sure.

I would have paid money for there to have been a split screen with the podium on one side, and the look on Bernie's face as the banners popped up on the other.

Holy carp! It was a lot more than a couple pop-up signs.

Watch through to the end...one of the protesters repelled down to the very top of the podium.

Wow that was pretty intense. They must have had some sort of permission and went further than FIA wanted. Those guys unfurling the banner at the start of the race should have triggered extra security it it wasn't allowed.

Maybe that explains the booing .It wasn't for Vettel. It was for those Greenies

I would love to know how they pulled it off. I can't believe that walked through the turnstiles with backpacks full of banners and repelling gear. They must have hid that stuff somewhere around the circuit and retrieved it when they arrived on site. And to get to the roof over the podium must have required access to what surely are highly restricted areas.

They probably had some help on the inside.

Top Gear this week is a must see.

Another new one? I thought the one with the gathering of "Made in the UK" cars was the last for this series (Series 20). Webber was also in that one.

I subscribe via iTunes and there was one more that downloaded after the Made in the UK episode titled "The World's Worst Car" special. Have not watched it yet, but that one aired on BBCA last week, I thought.

Love me my Top Gear (the real one, not the Americanized version), but I recall talking about it a few years ago on a Porsche forum I frequent, and most of the participants from the UK hated it. They just could not stand Clarkson, and much preferred 5th Gear, which I found entirely boring and humorless.

I remember that day also.I was there, and the whole weekend was a fiasco. As long as F1 doesn't tell them how to build tires,it may work out.

The Worst Car one was really good. They actually picked 2 Ferraris as contenders. Anyway...
The one this week also has Mark Webber in it...except hes in a Red Bull F1 car.

What package do you have?Looking to pick it up for the rest of the season.

I agree that the booing was for the tree huggers who hung banners, trying to spoil the moment of triumph for the drivers and constructor who won at Spa. I would have been booing too, I thought it was disgusting. Shell may indeed have things to answer for but the greenies picked the wrong time and the wrong place to raise the issue. No wonder so few take those folks seriously!

As I understand it, for the most part, F1 tells Pirelli what kind of tires to build...

I would be the last to argue that the greenies were without their supporters at the race. I now think the cheering mixed with booing we heard at the awards ceremony may have had as much to do with appreciation for the banners as it did with appreciation for the folks on the podium. In the event, though, I would have been one of those booing, not because of the message necessarily but because of the time and place of its delivery.

I'm not positive, but I think the boos were when the guy took the banners down. Whoever was running the remote jumped the gun on the second one. Should have waited till he was off. wink.gif

Good call.

Seems like Whitmarsh is stirring the pot...again.
I can't believe they would be willing to dump Perez's $$$ or Button's skills and British poster boy charm.

IF DR takes Webber's seat, next year will see a reduction in driver quality at RB.
The kid hasn't shown he is at Webber's level IMO.

Now, IF Kimi replaced Massa, Ferrari could easily claim the best driver line-up and THAT would be fascinating.
Red Bull's line-up would fall to the 3rd spot, after Ferrari and MB.
Of course, YMMV.wink.gif

Agreed.....Ferrari still needs a good car to take advantage of the drivers though........and so far, that seems like an impossible task!

True for now at least. The rule changes next year should make for a re-shuffle of the deck. Hopefully.
